Meet CHESA Fellow Dr. Willybroad Massawe, an otolaryngologist at Muhimbili University in Tanzania. His CHESA project assesses the burden of malnutrition among head and neck cancer patients to inform malnutrition treatment and prevention.

Meet CHESA Fellow Dr. Alexa Engel, general surgery resident from University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her CHESA project studies health awareness and literacy in Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras to guide safe, culturally informed surgical care.

Meet CHESA Fellow Dr. Oti Nimi Aria, a plastic surgeon at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. She is identifying the prevalence of breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgeries among women in order to shape policy and improve access.

Meet CHESA Fellow Dr. Kara Faktor, a general surgery resident at University of California at San Francisco. Her project is evaluating the impact of outreach programs to reduce pediatric gastrointestinal surgical diseases among refugee children in Uganda.

Meet CHESA Fellow Wongel Tena Shale, a general surgeon at Jimma University Medical Center. Her project is evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for gastrointestinal surgery to improve outcomes and support ERAS adoption in LMICs.

Meet CHESA Fellow Nathalie Paul, a nurse anesthetist at the University Hospital of Mirebalais. Her project is evaluating factors associated with post-spinal anesthesia hypotension in patients undergoing cesarean delivery.
