Gonna take a small break for today 🙏 I feel like it’s starting to get a little harder to interact with the FF7 community, it’s been getting worse now that I’m replaying the remake. The conspiracies and arguments being sparked for me talking about Tifa or Aerith is getting weird.

Somehow, I actually think FF7R is better compared to FF7 OG.
I played the OG when it launched and loved it.
But, FF7R has scenes that conveys more emotional depth: Cloud's outfit & dance at Wall Market, Jessie's death, Tifa w Cloud at Gongaga, Aerith's dream date w Cloud, etc.

“It set a new standard for remakes” It’s the opposite. FF7R shows you what NOT to do in a Remake: 1) Split the game into 3 parts over 7 years Take the first 5 hours, and drag it into 40 hr 2) Call it “Remake” - but it’s actually a Time Travel Spinoff/Multiverse Sequel Sephiroth is “remaking” the story! ☝️🤓 3) Throw its 90s dark, gritty atmosphere in the trash. Retool it for Disney Adults + Marvel fans When FF7 Remake had sold 7 mil copies, Rebirth sold 2 mil on launch. Followed by a 91% drop-off a week later. PS5 Exclusivity was a factor - but if you think it’s the only factor, you are willfully blind There’s a reason no other company is copying the FF7 “Remake” model - or ever will

And yet, the second acts plot is still mostly dark, unlike your caricature of it.

@NostalgiaVerse7 Some people thought it was a sequel because Aerith and Sephiroth somehow knows that the OG had happened in the past. But it is also possible that they are just given a vision (through the lifestream) of OG as the potential future (i.e. OG could happen but hasn't happened yet).

All main plot points in Retrilogy are STILL happening from OG. They are adding some things, & subtracting others so it flows better with the rest of the comp.

I love how the Developers of FFVIIR say stuff like this, then the "Its a Sequel" people tell the ones who believe FFVII ReTrilogy is actually just a Remake that they are "on Copium"...clearly the Sequel crowd are the ones "on Copium" when your only defense is "The Devs are Lying"

The devs have said they wanted to do a Remake, not a Sequel or Side Story. They've said it takes the Compilation events & characters into account. They've said Advent Children still happens after ReTrilogy. They've layed it out clearly. These "Its a Sequel" people are DUMB AF!

Cloud shouldn't have an emotional reaction at the time, similar with Jessie's death.
Rebirth streamlines that plot more elegantly.

If “tons” of fans were unhappy from it like people wanna gaslight me into believing where are all the replies saying how much they hate it? I see a few stupid ones but most are positive
It’s almost like that group was always a minority of the millions of overall players of the game. Go check the replies for any game that’s actually hated and you’ll see the contrast when a majority of people actually hate a game 😭

Your logic states that since FF7 Rebirth sold poorly/underperformed, therefore it must be a bad game.
Following your logic, then games like Alan Wake 2 and Okami (which also underperformed) should be seen as equally bad game too.

@JKohlbusch @Sebbywebz 1. I believe what the devs said: all of the OG's major feature (turn based, changing battle screens) are in fact due to limited PS1 capability at that time.
2. Yuffie is quite cringe in OG.
3. Jessie/Biggs/Wedges also underdeveloped, which I feel no emotion when they died.
