If you're the praying type, we had to take my son to the ER last night for difficulty breathing. He was admitted and now has to spend a second night here. Not sure when they'll discharge... Pray for him, he's very scared of the hospital and all the "beeps" he hears and pray for my wife who is staying with him while I manage my daughter at home.

The fact that you include “and pray you get lucky” at the end is why you’re one of the real ones Sean. When you make it, it’s so easy to say (& believe) things like “have good ideas and work your ass like I did” and miss that there’s still a luck component no matter how talented you are & how hard you try. Musicians & artists that suddenly blow up after 20 or 30 years of making the same beautiful art, are perfect examples of what I mean. Whatever IT is, it’s more than hard work and talent.

I should be more thankful. 8 years ago I was a struggling agency guy. My agency MIGHT bill a million a year. But me and Connor had no money. Live together, uber pool, every payroll was tight- type no money. We had no safety net. No savings, no rich parents. It either worked or we got jobs. We got very lucky. We found something we could sink our teeth into with ridge. We found partners who valued our work and were willing to go all in with us. 8 years later and we will do 8 figures this week. I just played tennis with some great friends, all building huge brands. My wife is my best friend, my house is awesome, I’m building a pool. I talk Ecom every week with my friends and 20,000 people listen. But 8 years ago- We were one bad month from having it all up. 10 years ago, I was renting a bunk bed in a house with 12 other guys. You can change your life in just a few short years. Work hard, work on something that can scale, and pray you get lucky. Hoping everyone reading this is just as blessed as me.

Why do you need to protect them? Why can't people protect themselves? Why does protecting some class of people limit what I can do? This idea of 'safety' is not about protecting classes of people, but protecting your brand. Our tools are just tools, and any tool can be used for bad. Get over it.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right. Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases. In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing). In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.
