💭 FINAL VERDICT: 8/10 Despite a lengthy list of issues, the actual fighting foundation is so much fun that I keep coming back to it. The striking, presentation improvements, and Hall of Legends make this a far better launch experience than UFC 5 was. If EA supports the game properly with patches, roster updates, and gameplay tuning, UFC 6 has the potential to become one of the strongest entries in the franchise. 🎮

❌ CONS: ⁃The new Flow State visual effects don’t look great and do not fit well in an MMA game. It’s not as bad as people say, but it’s great we’re getting an option to disable them. ⁃The arcade-style impact effects on strikes feel very out of place. The shockwave effect on every punch looks more like Tekken than UFC. ⁃Knockouts are still disappointing. They’re slightly better than UFC 5, but they still don’t come close to the physics and reactions seen in UFC 2. Sometimes you’ll get a knockout that makes you think “that looked cool”, but ultimately too many KOs end with awkward ragdolls or bodies spinning unrealistically. ⁃The arena color grading really hurts the presentation. The arenas have a heavy blue, green, or yellow haze over the crowd that looks unrealistic and distracting. Hall of Legends fights don’t have this issue, which makes them look MUCH better by comparison. ⁃Grappling remains largely unchanged. It still feels like a sluggish mini-game built around fakes and denials, with only minor additions such as the cage butterfly position. The gap in enjoyment between striking and grappling remains huge. ⁃The roster is currently weaker than UFC 5’s. Several legends have been removed, including BJ Penn and Anthony Pettis, while notable ranked fighters such as Kyoji Horiguchi and Aaron Pico are absent. ⁃Some fighters are missing from weight classes where they should be available. Islam Makhachev and Conor McGregor being absent from lightweight is particularly strange. ⁃Several fighters are missing custom shorts shorts and cosmetic options that existed in UFC 5. Champion shorts selection also appears to have been removed. ⁃Not all fighter models are up to the same standard. Alexander Volkov’s proportions look off, UFC 232 Jon Jones is oddly built, and some physiques don’t accurately reflect their real-life counterparts. ⁃Career Mode is easily the weakest part of the game. It is largely identical to UFC 5’s career mode, but now removes the WFA and starts every fighter directly in the UFC. Fighter ages and records are often inaccurate, and everyone being in their prime creates some bizarre matchmaking situations. In my opinion, it’s the worst career mode in the series. ⁃The Legacy mode feels more like a short prologue than a true story mode. There are some cool moments, but once you’ve played it once, there’s very little reason to revisit it. ⁃Stamina is currently broken. Players can throw an absurd number of strikes per round without suffering meaningful consequences. Having a high strike percentage and picking your shots means nothing at the moment.
