Today, on #MemorialDay, the members of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, Local 112, pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear today will never be forgotten.

Last night, the angels watching over LA were clearly looking out for our firefighters and the public. In what could have been a devastating tragedy, @LAFD Engine 274 was responding to an emergency in Sunland when it overturned in a collision. Two firefighters went to the hospital but thankfully escaped without serious injury and there are no reports of civilian injuries. This is another powerful reminder of the dangers our firefighters face every single day in service to others. 🚒

Some fires leave scars far beyond the flames. May 16th marks the six-year anniversary of the Boyd Street Fire and explosion in Downtown Los Angeles. Eleven @LAFD firefighters were sent to the Burn Center, careers were forever changed as a result of that day. More than 120 @LAFD Firefighters battled a commercial fire early this morning in Downtown LA. Nearby residents evacuated and fire now extinguished.

@LAFD Firefighters have been working throughout the night to extinguish a massive homeless encampment fire under the 110 Freeway in San Pedro. Major emergencies like this happen every day in LA, while our fire department is half the size it should be to properly keep our neighborhoods safe.

Footage from @onscenetv of yet another recent homeless fire at a vacant structure in the 5300 block of Main Street in South Los Angeles. The @LAFD responds to an average of 47 homeless related fires every single day in Los Angeles.

Over 100 @LAFD firefighters responded to a massive fire at an auto salvage yard in Pacoima involving multiple vehicles, buildings and carports. It took over an hour to knockdown the fire and an investigation into the cause of the fire is taking place.

Earlier this morning, approximately 90 @LAFD Firefighters battled a stubborn attic fire at a garden-style apartment building in #Koreatown. Despite a partial roof collapse, there were no injuries reported. Unfortunately, 18 residents were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

More than 120 @LAFD Firefighters extinguished a structure fire at a “vacant” home in Pico Union this morning. This is one of just approximately 45 homeless related fires the LAFD will respond to today… and every day.

Tuesday morning apartment fire in Canoga Park. @LAFD Firefighters quickly responded and transported 2 men to a local hospital.

More than 75,000 homeless related fires in LA since 2020 and growing, yet @LAFD has the same number of firefighters and six fewer fire stations today than we had in the 1960s. Visit FundLAFire.com - we need to finally invest in our fire department.

On Tuesday, an Amazon cargo container caught fire on a train in Downtown Los Angeles. This is the 2nd cargo train fire in less than a week the @LAFD successfully extinguished with no injuries reported.

More than 100 @LAFD Firefighters took extinguished a massive structure fire in the Beverly Crest neighborhood of CD5 in just over 4 hours. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

At 3:17AM on Easter morning, more than 60 @LAFD Firefighters responded to vacant structure fire in #EastHollywood. Yet another homeless fire at the same location as previous fires. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the fire didn’t extend to adjacent buildings.
