It is with incredible sadness that we acknowledge the off-duty death of LAFD Captain II Christopher Yokoyama on July 6, 2026.
Captain Yokoyama was a 25-year veteran of the LAFD most recently assigned to Fire Station 95 in Westchester. He was a mentor, friend, and brother to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. More importantly, he was a loving husband and father of three children.
May God Bless the Yokoyama family and all who loved him. He will be missed and will not be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from United Firefighters of Los Angeles City! 🇺🇸
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day, especially the firefighters, paramedics, and dispatchers serving our communities today while many of us celebrate with family and friends.
The Fourth of July is traditionally the busiest weekend of the year for the @LAFD. Despite continuing to operate with significant staffing shortages, our firefighters and paramedics will once again rise to the occasion, answering every call with professionalism, courage, and dedication.
If you're celebrating today, please do so responsibly. Your choices can help keep both your family and our first responders safe.
From all of us at UFLAC, have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

Today is National PTSD Awareness Day.
When firefighters respond to emergencies, they witness tragedy, trauma, and loss that most people will never experience. While protecting our communities is an honor, those experiences can leave lasting psychological injuries that deserve the same recognition and treatment as any physical injury.
The @IAFFofficial, @CAFirefighters, and UFLAC have been leaders in spreading awareness and promoting legislation to protect our first responders and enable them to get the help they need.
Today, UFLAC honors every firefighter who has struggled in silence, every family who has stood beside them, and every organization working to improve behavioral health in the fire service. Together, we can continue building a culture where seeking help is a sign of strength - and where protecting those who protect us remains a priority.

Today, we honor the fathers and father figures of the @LAFD who answer the call every day to protect our city. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others make our communities safer and stronger. We also honor the LAFD Firefighters who are continuing to fight the massive Boyle Heights warehouse fire now on Day 5. Happy Father’s Day!

🚒 This afternoon @LAFD Firefighters responded to a massive warehouse fire in Boyle Heights. With solar panels burning on the roof and an ammonia leak with heavy black smoke, a stay-in shelter order was set for the local community. While firefighters have extinguished the roof fire, and knockdown has not yet been declared and the stay-in shelter remains in place with a smoke advisory for local residents.

We received word from the LA City Clerk that our UFLAC led citizen initiative to FundLAFire.com has received enough valid signatures to qualify for the November 2026 ballot. Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to hire additional firefighters and paramedics, build more fire stations, and purchase more fire trucks, engines, and ambulances in the most understaffed big city fire department in America. This initiative isn't about politics. It's about finally funding the @LAFD with guaranteed, dedicated revenue so that we can show up on time when just a matter of seconds can mean the difference between life and death. 🙏🚒

Before most of the city had finished their morning coffee, over 60 @LAFD firefighters were battling a stubborn structure fire at the Greater New Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in South LA. It took over 60 firefighters 2 hours to extinguish the fire. LAFD Arson is investigating the cause.

Today, June 5th, is the 9-year anniversary of the tragic passing of @LAFD Firefighter Kelly Wong, who died on June 5, 2017, from injuries sustained during an on duty training exercise. At just 29 years old, Kelly’s commitment to service to our city was only surpassed by the love he had for his family, especially his wife, Danielle, and his son, Colton. UFLAC honors memory and celebrates his life, today and always. May God Bless and watch out for the Wong family.

At one of the busiest fire stations in America, @LAFD Firefighters at Station 11 in Pico Union respond to an average of 41 emergency calls each day. About 80% of these responses, ranging from drug overdoses and assaults to structure fires and medical emergencies, are directly related to the homelessness crisis. The current situation is simply unsustainable and has got to change.

Today, on #MemorialDay, the members of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, Local 112, pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear today will never be forgotten.

Last night, the angels watching over LA were clearly looking out for our firefighters and the public. In what could have been a devastating tragedy, @LAFD Engine 274 was responding to an emergency in Sunland when it overturned in a collision. Two firefighters went to the hospital but thankfully escaped without serious injury and there are no reports of civilian injuries. This is another powerful reminder of the dangers our firefighters face every single day in service to others. 🚒

Some fires leave scars far beyond the flames.
May 16th marks the six-year anniversary of the Boyd Street Fire and explosion in Downtown Los Angeles. Eleven @LAFD firefighters were sent to the Burn Center, careers were forever changed as a result of that day. UFLAC honors the bravery of our members then, and every day, as they continue serving the City of Los Angeles.
Never forget their courage and their sacrifice.

@LAFD Firefighters have been working throughout the night to extinguish a massive homeless encampment fire under the 110 Freeway in San Pedro. Major emergencies like this happen every day in LA, while our fire department is half the size it should be to properly keep our neighborhoods safe.
