BLA students are redefining coastal protection using AI + 3D printing. Students in Dr. Qiong Wang's Advanced Landscape Ecology class completed a project using AI tools and 3D printing in the design process to create living shoreline models. Read more at loom.ly/aaRK4h0.

Congrats to PhD candidate Shweta Vardia on receiving a Getty Library Research Grant! The grant helps fund a residency at the institute with access to the Getty Library. Vardia researches the redefinition of buffer zone boundaries around tentative World Heritage Sites in India.

Hidden in the Sandy Creek Nature Center, the Sandy Creek Pumping Station is a relic of Athens’ past. This fall, the station was project for BLA students in CED Associate Professor Buitrago’s service-learning studio. Learn more about the project at loom.ly/L0RuOHc.

Hot new bulbs have entered the villa! The week before Thanksgiving break, Founders Memorial Garden director Gareth Crosby and her team of student workers planted around 2,525 bulbs in the garden. We can't wait to see these beauties bloom next semester!

Did you know that on this day in 1980, R.E.M. played in the Jackson Street Building? At the time, the JSB was home to UGA's art school. The first picture, snapped by Terry Allen, was used on the cover of the “And I Feel Fine… The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982–1987" album.

It's National Cat Day, so we're throwing it back to some of our favorite garden cats! These feline friends were frequent visitors of the Founders Memorial Garden, including one cat "Hubert," named after Hubert Bond Owens, the founder of UGA's landscape architecture program.
