@NeilTheMason @UGLE_UniScheme Agreed re the balancing act which is why we also encourage certain things that make the meeting shorter such as written reports from the Almoner and Charity Steward and not reading out the minutes.

@UGLE_UniScheme Couldn’t agree more. My mother Lodge meets on Friday evenings and usually tyles around 6pm, but even that can be awkward at times. It’s a delicate balancing act between not opening too early, and not closing too late.

Best practice tip: If you’re looking to recruit / maintain members of a young or working age, then meetings which start during working hours are not conducive to them attending without detriment to themselves. Members shouldn’t have to take time off work to enjoy their Masonry.

Great meeting last night of one of our newest member Lodges. They are setting up a Masonic Society at the University of Bedford. A very engaged Province.

Off to visit Cumberland Lodge's Installation in Luton with the President this evening. A recent member of the Scheme. They have the odd tradition that if a High Ruler is present they must give the address to the brethren!
