Three weeks ago I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and repair my aortic root. My “incompetent” bicuspid valve was discovered when I was 11 years old and for the last 47 years I have been looked after by the cardiac team at Southampton General Hospital. 🧵

After so many weeks off work (still on crutches) it was great to pop in today and drop off presents for the fellows and residents. Always love the eye unit at Christmas- the elves have been busy with the Xmas door competition.🎄 🎅
