🏴‍☠️’Keepers Steel City’s tradition of excellence between the posts continued this season. Sebastian Doppelhofer was sensational in the campaign’s final stretch, racking up 276 consecutive scoreless minutes. The team conceded only six goals in the season’s final seven matches. Veteran Danny Mack’s influence continued to expand, not only as a steady first team back-up but as a rising young soccer mind, coaching the club’s eight goalkeepers across four teams. Koschik, on his way to Lewis University, was in his second season as a Steelman and Carvajal kept a clean sheet in his sole appearance.

@TrustTrost “Say it ain’t so” Joe. Come on, how can you possibly support this measure to further complicate students participation in HS sports. This muddies the waters even more for HS coaches and will lead to a greater shortage of coaches in my opinion

Kevin Ozee is the chief of interscholastic activities for the Burleson Independent School District in Burleson, Texas. He just wrote a story for the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) talking about student athletes playing high school and club/travel at the same time. Remember: 75 percent of high school student athletes in the U.S. have the Right To Play. In Illinois, that is not the case. Whether it’s a weekend 5K charity race, a Wednesday night community bowling competition, playing CLASA on Saturday night with their extended family, taking part in a golfing event on Sunday or traveling to national showcase, the IHSA dictates what student athletes can and can’t do in their free and weekend time. “Concurrent participation in club and high school sports offers a unique opportunity for student-athletes to develop as competitors and individuals. While the challenges are undeniable, with the right strategies and support systems, these athletes can achieve remarkable success. “By fostering collaboration, prioritizing health and emphasizing holistic development, stakeholders can ensure that dual participation remains a rewarding and sustainable endeavor for all involved.” Question: Who are the problems? Answer: Adults. Solution: Ship all adults to Mars and let the kids play. On a serious note, Kevin put together a few valuable lists for adults to remember and use. When humans work together, we can achieve amazing things. The #PowerOfSport brings people together - until adult egos and control get in the way. Change is hard for adults, but change is good when people work together to help enhance opportunities for all kids.

Emotion. We teach student athletes to control themselves, but man I’m telling you adults managing school social media accounts need to learn to control their emotions. We continue to live in this era of “rushing” to post or we “have” to post. The impact of your post is more important. School teams represent “brands,” which are that specific program, the school, the athletic department and even a community. Some people are going to see this post as critical. It’s not. I’m trying to help you learn and think. Put down the defensive guard, and let me help you. Social media, unless it’s deleted, sticks around forever. If a team loses a tough game, it’s almost like some coach or adults running these “school” accounts are using it as therapy for themselves. I’ve said it time and time again: Coaches should not be running school social media accounts. If they want to post, it should be a separate coach’s social page so they can put some tone if they like. For school accounts, why are we taking a negative tone if a school loses in a championship game of a tournament? Do you know how many kids, families, schools and communities will never ever experience that opportunity? And when I say negative, I mean why are we not fully focusing on the amazing accomplishment vs say the loss? I’ll use Lane for example, if I was to post for its school social after its loss on Saturday night: Congrats to coach Ricks and the varsity boys soccer team, which finished second in the IHSA Tournament - the highest finish for any CPS program in Class 3A history. The team finished 17-3-4, going 13-1-1 in its last 15 games that featured big wins over Oak Park, Evanston, Leyden, Conant and Edwardsville. I’ll use De La Salle for example: The boys soccer team concluded a HISTORIC season on Saturday, capturing the Class 2A second-place trophy - the highest-ever finish for a Chicago Catholic League program. The team set a program record with 27 wins and 21 shutouts, as it outscored its opponents 121-19. At one point, the Meteors went unbeaten in 27 consecutive games, a stretch only a few schools in Illinois history have ever accomplished. Congrats to coach Martinez, all the players and their families. You made De La Salle so proud! I just used those two schools as examples, because adults struggle with how to post when a team loses. Remember your post could last forever. How do you want that post to read in 1/5/10 years? Think. Your brand is going to be shared. Take a breath, take a second. You don’t have to post right away. Get it right, wait until the next morning. We tell kids not to post in emotional moments. Adults need to do the same. There is passion, there is disappointment, there is so-called heartbreak losing emotional games. That’s life, but don’t let that small moment take away from the great accomplishment of getting there in a public and possible lifelong post. I’ve had this conversation time and time again with ADs, many of which have comeback and said I get it now - you’re right. It’s not about being right or wrong. I just wish schools would invest in basic social media training 101 for all of their school accounts. Bring in a subject-matter expert to help engage and educate everyone.

Steel City FC 2024 Insights Report - mailchi.mp/71c4e9bce0cb/s… Dear Steel City Supporters, Relegation stands as the ultimate measure of failure and finality in football. It's a verdict from which there is no immediate escape. After a season with only one victory, the reality is undeniable - Steel City will drop to Division Two in 2025. Road to Redemption The initiatives we set in motion before the season - many of which require time to truly take root - ensure we are a club built to last. Those initiatives included forming Steel City Academy, re-imagining our reserve team to Steel City NXT, and hiring a Director of Coaching and Goalkeeper Coach. Days after this season's final whistle, our staff looked inward with unflinching honesty and committed to changes. We will retool how we evaluate our player pool week-to-week and foster greater competition for first team spots. Next season in Division Two we look forward to renewing our rivalries with Edgewater Castle FC, Berber City FC, and Rockford FC. If we win Division Two in '25, we will be in Division One in '26. Catching the Spotlight Our social media following grew by a staggering 90%, we shattered prior season ticket marks and set viewership records for match live streams. We exist to elevate our young people. To that end, we were thrilled that the fourth player in club history signed a pro contract. Laura Stepniak joined Ladies Czestochowa in Poland. We aren't the reason these athletes turned pro, but we are proud they considered us a worthy step towards realizing their aspirations. Together, We Rise Our club cannot uplift our community's young adults without your support. As a volunteer-driven organization with modest resources, we are grateful that you've chosen to stand with us. We know many more worthy causes compete for your attention, and we don't take your support lightly. Biden/Harris Hate Bodily Autonomy! If supporters of Biden/Harris, genuinely cared about bodily autonomy, they would reconsider voting for them. They imposed authoritarian Covid vaccine mandates that severely infringed on our personal freedoms! Many people who chose not to comply faced job losses, financial hardship, and severe persecution! Why is it so difficult for many of you to acknowledge this impact on our fundamental rights?

Is Judge Merchan insane? When a tainted (by his own donations to Biden, his clear bias in the court, and his daughter making millions as an anti-Trump Democrat) state judge says he “will impose an incarceratory punishment “on the Presidential nominee of the Republican Party and former President of the United States he is threatening a constitutional crisis. Millions of Americans will be enraged at the spectacle of a corrupt local judge putting their candidate in prison. Merchan has to be removed from the case as dangerous and viciously partisan.
