I’m pleased to be in Helsinki at the @UIPI_EU 46th annual conference, hosted by our Finnish friends Harri Hiltunen and Marju Silander and chaired by the formidable @KaiHWar Last night, we were joined by newly elected mayor of Helsinki @Dansazo at the beautiful city hall. Amusingly, his election comes after working for the Finnish landlord association. (Got me thinking!) This morning we heard from Sari Multala, Minister of Climate, Environment and Housing. What struck me was the minister stating that they don’t have a housing crisis in Finland. She explained that they have 90% occupancy in the private rented sector and as a result of this supply, the rents are not spiralling as other member states. Who knew!!?? She went on to praise the role of housing providers and set out how it was the state’s job to not put blockers in the way of new supply and investment. 🤯🤯 My goodness how we could benefit from this sensible political thinking in the UK. @NRLAssociation

A huge thank you to OSMD CZ for co-organising this impactful event and helping to make it a success! Once again, the UIPI #RenovationTour fulfilled its primary goal: bridging the gap between EU renovation goals and property owners on the ground.

➡️ Solutions are already available: #OneStopShops, Local innovation clusters, #EnergyCommunities; all can help unlock progress, but they need stronger national and local support to be fully deployed and effective.

Last week, the UIPI #RenovationTour made its 8th stop in #Prague, bringing together ~100 property owners, policymakers and construction sector experts to dive into the challenges and opportunities of renovating 🇨🇿 buildings – with a focus on Prague’s valuable #HeritageBuildings.
