These findings emphasize the crucial role of local and regional factors in atmospheric deposition dynamics and underscore the absolute need for peace as a prerequisite for sustainable N management and safeguarding our environment.

An 11-15% reduction in sulphate deposition from the atmosphere was seen across the entire Ukrainian part of the catchment. Sulphates scatter solar radiation and change weather patterns like rain and cloud cover.

In the middle and upper parts of Dniester, the influx of refugees and businesses to these regions gradually offset the impacts of war; if current trends continue, the amount of N pollution observed in the area is only going to keep increasing.
