UK Defence in Lebanon

3 UN peacekeepers have died in Lebanon in the last two days. More injured. This is unacceptable. The UK condemns all attacks against peacekeepers. All parties to the conflict must ensure the safety and security of @UNIFIL_ personnel, in accordance with international law.

The UK’s Defence Senior Advisor @DSAMEUKMoD concluded a two-day visit to Lebanon, reaffirming the UK’s continued support for @LebarmyOfficial during the ongoing conflict and the urgent need for deescalation.

Amongst the important speeches and dialogues of the @MunSecConf 2026, very pleased that Chief of Defence @LebarmyOfficial, General Rudolph Haykal, could hold a first meeting with @UKCDS_MOD to enhance ties between the LAF and UK Defence.

The message from the Munich Security Conference this weekend was clear: what those of us in uniform do matters. It matters for our country. It matters for our allies. And it matters more now than it has done for a very long time.

عُقد قبل ظهر اليوم في مبنى قيادة الجيش – اليرزة اجتماع لجنة الإشراف العليا على برنامج المساعدات لحماية الحدود البرية، بحضور قائد الجيش العماد رودولف هيكل، والسفير الأميركي ميشال عيسى والسفير البريطاني Hamish Cowell والسفير الكندي Gregory Galligan، إلى جانب عدد من ضباط القيادة وقادة الوحدات، وأعضاء فريق العمل المشترك اللبناني - البريطاني - الأميركي، وفريق التدريب الكندي (CTAT). خلال الاجتماع، عُرضت المراحل المنفَّذة من البرنامج والخطوات المقبلة لتلبية حاجات الوحدات العسكرية المكلّفة بضبط الحدود الشمالية والشرقية ومكافحة التهريب والتسلل غير الشرعي، والتحديات التي تواجهها هذه الوحدات وسط التطورات الراهنة. كما لفت السفراء المشاركون إلى أهمية دور الجيش في حفظ أمن لبنان واستقراره، منوّهين بمستوى احترافه ونجاحه، ومؤكدين ضرورة دعم المؤسسة العسكرية لتعزيز قدرتها على أداء مهماتها على كامل الأراضي اللبنانية. وألقى العماد هيكل كلمة جاء فيها: "إنّ التزامنا حماية الحدود التزام نهائي، وقد بذلنا الكثير من الجهود والتضحيات لهذه الغاية، غير أنّ تحقيق هذا الهدف بفاعلية يستلزم دعمًا عسكريًّا نوعيًّا، انطلاقًا من حجم التحديات القائمة على الحدود الشمالية والشرقية". وأكد أهمية المساعدات التي قدمتها السلطات الأميركية والبريطانية والكندية إلى الجيش، شاكرًا دعمها المتواصل في ظل الصعوبات الحالية. #الجيش_اللبناني #LebaneseArmy shorturl.at/P8BFu
