🚨 This is how easily politicians can twist data. 📊 A Labour MP just claimed that inflation was higher under the Conservatives last term. ✅ Technically true… ❌ But here’s the catch: that period included a GLOBAL PANDEMIC 🌍🦠 when governments had no choice but to print money to keep people alive. 📉 In fact, the Tories were already bringing inflation down, exactly what a responsible government should do after such a crisis. ⚡ Fast forward to the election: inflation has shot back UP ⬆️🔥. And this time? No pandemic. No global meltdown. Just… Labour’s incompetence 🤦‍♂️. 🤔 That’s the trick: politicians cherry-pick data 📈📉 to spin the story their way. But looking at the chart, it seems clear 👉 Labour comes out looking worse than the Conservatives.

@ZackPolanski Also I think you'll find this is exactly why you won't replace Labour. I don't believe every Labour supporter wants to move to the far left. You'll get some of them and you'll hit your limit, that'll be it.

Labour plans to withhold benefits to people who have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain. Performative cruelty and total cowardice. That’s why the Greens will replace Labour.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

Exclusive from @matt_dathan The Home Office has drawn up plans to relax immigration reforms in a bid to address the concerns of Labour MPs Under a compromise up to 1.6 million migrants could be granted indefinite leave to remain after five years instead of ten — but they would face waiting longer to qualify for benefits The group known as the Boriswave after the boom in immigration under Boris Johnson would be exempted from Mahmood's migration reforms but have to wait longer before accessing benefits such as UC, disability payments, council tax reduction, tax credits and state pension credits A source said: “What it boils down to is benefits. You would allow them to get ILR after five years but you don’t allow them to claim benefits until three or four years later.” They said “most people don’t come here so they can claim benefits”, but the idea that they can do so “as soon as they get ILR” was “politically damaging”. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@PatMillsUK @garyseconomics There are many other taxes to (even more since Labour took charge) but just thought I'd use the most common taxes for sake of this example.

I'm not sure this lady's personal situation but if she has income through a company she she be paying 25% corp tax, then if she wants to withdraw money from the company she has to pay a tax of between 40% and 50% if she's a higher earner which I assume she is. Or if she has an asset (unrealised gain) and sells it then she'll pay capital gains tax. So when she says normalising not paying more etc it doesn't really tell us anything? Which tax is she not paying? Which tax does she want to change? This is my problem with these tax the rich movements. They need to be more specific. Which tax do they want to change and how?

Geniunely why is he traitor to the US? To me it looks like he's created a few massive companies that employ a very large amount of people and a lot of high paid jobs so either directly or indirectly through his staff, he has paid A LOT of tax. SpaceX have created rockets that have landed themselves and therefore have really advanced the USAs space program, NASA would not have achieved that. Also, Elon originally struggled to hire top talent at SpaceX, so he assumed the role of Chief Engineer himself and had to learn about rockets himself. There is the famous saying 'it's not rocket science' because rocket science is one of the hardest things you can do. Well this was literally rocket science. I could reel of more of his achievements. But to me, it is quite legendary what he's achieved and there are only a few humans in history that could have done what he's done. So yeh looking forward to hearing a good counter to the above? I can only assume that you hate him because he's rich, so f*ck the rich?

If capitalism truly rewarded intelligence and skill, the richest people would be scientists, engineers, and neurosurgeons. If it rewarded talent, artists, writers, and creators would be at the top. If it rewarded hard work, cleaners, laborers, and service workers would be wealthy. But they’re not. So what exactly does capitalism reward?

@UKDispatchBox @BeaviSNoches @omgsidewalks Mate, look out of the window, qhat we're doing right now isn't working for thw vast majority of the planet, and they're destroying the planet to make more money. All the workers need to run are the hiluge companies that dominate the planet. No point rationalising the chip shop.

If business gets big they can decide and have a lot of influence of course. When you say the banks decide is that because they loan money to businesses so they have control that way? I know there are some loopholes that big business exploits but they still pay a lot of tax and employ a lot of people so simply getting rid of them isn't a good thing, they will just go elsewhere. Also small businesses still exist and we want to encourage new small businesses to be created. But a small business can turn into a big business so if you want the workers to control it at which point does the business become big enough that you think they have to hand over control to workers? Like I say I think that would put people off starting a business and encourage them to move abroad.

If the government doesn't run it and people that started or bought the company do not run it then how do you decide who runs it? It's easy to just say the workers. But I don't see how that would practically work. If someone starts a company, do they have to give part of it away every time they employ someone?

@UKDispatchBox @BeaviSNoches @omgsidewalks Your assumption is govwrnment has to run it, in North Korea or anywhere elae. Why not us, after all, we already do, then we hand over the product of our labour to the man with the money. No worries. As the collapse takes the livelihoods of thoae around you you will soon think.

Agreed! Even though I am a free market capitalist I do acknowledge that sometimes very talented people don't get rewarded in monetary terms and also sometimes stupid people get lucky and make loads of money. But the problem I have with those that want to change the system is how do you fix that? Who decides who gets what? It would obviously ridiculous to have someone deciding who deserves what as that would be based on a group of opinions and would also be about popularity and how close you are to the person deciding which funnily enough does remind me of North Korea because that is how they operate. So yeh let the market be free. It isn't perfect but I am still convinced and history has proven it is the best way to operate. Happy to listen to counter arguments.

Facts. I think these people want a nanny state. What confuses me is why do they think the government is going to yield better results than letting millions of people free to produce what they want and keeping the fruits of their labour. When did North Korea produce anything good? They have one guy at the top deciding how the economy should run and who is allowed what.

@McrGreenParty Yes I know you just want to have no borders and let everyone in. But you lot are not a serious party at all. Whilst Burnham is center left and I'm not his biggest fan, he's not completely daft like you lot.
