Any of my Royal account friends here watching Ladies of London? I’m not asking for the Meghan bit but about another bit of drama on the first two episodes.

With their brand already severely diluted, if they don’t pull massive crowds, no amount of messaging will save them from the images contrasting it with their 2018 visit. Unless they are being paid for some of the appearances, it’s not a choice I would advise.

Harry and Meghan going to Australia is a HUGE risk for them. While they are already messaging that it’s “private” and “not a royal tour” it will inevitably be compared directly to the tour they did there at the height of their popularity as working royals.

@UKRoyalTea @Will___lloyd 1) They’re not intending to set up a royal court. Never have. They just want to make a living & give back. 2) Hollywood isn’t a factor that’s something the media pushed.

Prince Harry is the only current royal who can tell a convincing story about the institution of monarchy and how it might (at this admittedly late stage) be reformed. The fact that he was conflated with Andrew in the press - something encouraged by his relatives - is another grotesque sideshow in the Windsor crack-up.

@Will___lloyd And everything William is criticized for - not doing as many engagements, prioritizing his family, being private - are the ways he is redefining how royal children are raised, who are the literal future of the monarchy.

@Will___lloyd It’s true that the Sussexes have been unfairly conflated with Andrew, but Harry is very unpopular as is Meghan. They haven’t been able to successfully establish a rival court in California , even with the entire Hollywood complex behind them.

@UKRoyalTea Possibly but the fact that Prince William got someone in Jeff’s level to give up 4.8 million is not a bad thing. Especially since we know some of them are very tight with their money.

In case you missed this yesterday. The Bezos foundation is teaming up with Earthshot to give 4.8 million away to 48 different Earthshot nominees. 16 nominees a year for the next three years 100,000 per solution. This is putting your money to good use. See thread from Wales Brasil.

@SabirahLohn 4.8 million is less than .002% of his net worth. His yacht cost $500 million to build. It’s hard to see as anything but flimsy PR and an attempt to get closer to the royals.

@UKRoyalTea Maybe this is his way of trying to do the right thing. Prince William Earthshot is working hard at trying to change things and maybe he wants to make sure that it’s known he had a part in it.🤷🏾‍♀️

Releasing these Epstein files now is a ploy to take the focus off of what has been happening with ICE.
