Here's an impression of this unique sea-skimmer, properly known as a Wing-In-Ground effect(WIG) craft

One of the Greek pilots who were recruited by the CIA in 1955 to fly the U-2, has gone public for the first time! He briefly flew the secret new spyplane before the Agency opted to use only American pilots. dragonladyhistory.com/2026/01/27/aft…

The first U-2 to be retired is now in the ‘boneyard’ at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. Three more are set to follow over the next few months. But Congress has insisted that the remainder be kept operational for the time being. dragonladytoday.com/2026/01/25/con…

Never before seen – twenty-one U-2s all in a row! But only at Scale Model World. That is the annual show staged by the International Plastic Modellers’ Society (IPMS) in the UK... dragonladyhistory.com/2025/11/28/a-l…

I've had a great reaction to my new book SHADOW FLYER. It tells the story of Bob Ericson, one of the select group of pilots recruited by the CIA to fly the U-2 over the Soviet Union. He flew this extraordinary spyplane for 30 years, with The Agency then NASA. Buy it from Amazon.

@UKdragonChris What an incredible turnout for this event! Was there a special presentation or story shared about the aircraft’s history that made the day particularly memorable for everyone attending.

@thenewarea51 My dad was the first man to command the U-2 wing and then the SR-71 wing. First pic is he receiving an award from President Kennedy, for the wing’s work during the Cuban Missile Crisis. (Gen. LeMay with back to camera.) Second pic first SR-71 at Beale. My father far left.

DRAGON 70 (U-2) wkg ATLANTA CENTER on UHF explaining they are trying to set an endurance and altitude for category and class of aircraft. 😎 OTD 70 years ago, Anthony LeVier made the first flight of the Lockheed U-2 at Groom Lake on August 1st, 1955. It’s too bad their ADSB is turned on but now you know why they picked the callsign DRAGON 70 today. Big thanks to Bill B. for the ATC audio

I have written a biography of Bob Ericson, a notable pilot who flew the U-2 with the CIA and then NASA for 30 years. More on my website, which also provides a link to Amazon for sales. dragonladyhistory.com/2025/07/15/my-…

My latest post: Putting an American nuclear bomb on Britain's F-35s is problematic and unwise. The integration of new British weapons on the jet is already a problem. makesaerosense.com/2025/06/06/the…
