Dr. Yi Bao’s path to cancer research began with a painful loss: watching a family member endure chemotherapy for lung cancer, only to gain a few more months of life. "My name is Sophia, and I am a Pediatric Phlebotomist Specialist at @MottChildren's Hospital. The part of my job I enjoy most is successfully obtaining blood from patients with challenging veins, as well as cultivating relationships with patients and their families over time. A lot of folks, not just kiddos, have anxiety surrounding pokes! Getting to help even one person understand that having their blood drawn or port accessed isn’t such a treacherous event makes it worth it. Childhood medical experiences can dictate the care patients choose to receive or not receive for the rest of their lives.
