Ending child marriage means making justice real for girls. At #CSW70 we discussed why laws alone are not enough. Girls need justice systems they can access that protect them early and provide real pathways to safety and redress.

In conflicts and emergencies, girls and women are often worst affected. Violence and displacement become widespread. Education and healthcare are disrupted. The risk of child marriage rises. Opportunities disappear. In times of crisis, girls’ futures are often pushed aside. Across the world, UNICEF and partners are working to protect girls’ rights, supporting their safety, education and access to services that help them build their futures.

On #IWD2026, we stand for Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women & girls. That means dismantling discriminatory laws, strengthening legal protections, and ending human rights violations like child marriage and FGM- so every girl can live safe, free, and in control of her future.

How do children learn to stay safe online? In #Tunisia, kids took part in a CyberDrill - hands-on workshops on spotting phishing, protecting personal data, and navigating the internet safely. Building digital resilience starts early.

As we have earlier warned, the military escalation in the Middle East is putting the lives of millions of children in the region at risk. Scores of children have been reported killed and injured in multiple countries. Targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, is a violation of international law. Children and the vital services they rely on must be protected.

"Everything was burning there. I could hear explosions and it was scary." After the war broke out, 16-year-old Tymofii moved from #Ukraine to Poland so he can continue studying. As the war enters its fifth year, he yearns to go back home and be with friends and family again.

Four years on, #Ukraine’s children are still living with the consequences of war - displacement, loss, trauma and disrupted education. Every child deserves safety, protection and hope for the future. The world must not forget Ukraine’s children.
