An African man’s face and a white person’s face do not have the same bone structure. That's why a white person can do fillers and Botox and it will look okay on them, but an African will do the exact same procedure and their face will look somehow. The reason for this is untrained hands. Because so many people are doing trial and error and don't understand our unique face structures, they end up using people’s faces anyhow. This is exactly why @UNNOInstitute gathered doctors last week Saturday for the Masters of Beauty Global conference (@Mobstarsglobal) to fix this knowledge gap. Later in June, we’re bringing the convener, @DrHildaTitiloye, on the Unclog with Aproko Doctor podcast so we can go deeper into skin health and aesthetics. If you have any questions for her around beauty and aesthetic medicine, drop them in the comments.

There are major blood vessels on your face. If a needle hits the wrong one, a part of your face can be permanently affected. Yet, across Lagos and Abuja, people are letting completely unlicensed strangers inject them. Your face is not for trial and error. Aesthetic medicine is also medicine. It carries risks too. If you’re a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist in aesthetic medicine, or you're looking to enter it properly, we are sitting down this Saturday at @Mobstarsglobal by @UNNOInstitute to set the standard.

Just because somebody wears a white coat does not mean they are a medical professional. By Nigerian law, injectables are strictly for doctors, dentists, and trained nurses. But because nobody is asking questions, quacks are treating human faces like a drawing board. If you're a medical professional looking to get into aesthetic medicine or you’re already in it, the quackery in this space is getting out of hand. It is a clinical disaster waiting to happen. But you can fix it. Start here: mastersofbeautyglobal.com/payment/ @Mobstarsglobal @UNNOInstitute

Before anyone puts a needle in your face for botox or fillers, ask these 5 questions so you don't regret it!
