In Somalia, people don’t describe aid cuts as statistics – they know that they won’t get lifesaving support. I talked to @CBC from Mogadishu 👇🏼 cbc.ca/radio/asithapp…

A water system collapse in Sucre, Venezuela, after an earthquake 2 months ago, has left many without safe water – some for over 20 days.

I’ve allocated $2M from the UN Global Emergency Fund CERF to support urgent health, water, sanitation & hygiene needs for affected families.

Since ceasefire, about 293,600 metric tons of aid – equivalent to approximately 21,000 truckloads – collected by UN and partners from Gaza crossings. 72% up compared with pre ceasefire. Determined to maximize neutral, lifesaving aid that is urgently needed. @UN @BoardOfPeace

Many lives have been saved in Gaza because of scaled up humanitarian effort since the ceasefire. But much more to do: we need to sustain access, protection of civilians, neutrality and partnership.
UN Humanitarian@UNOCHA

More than 6 months since the ceasefire, we continue to work strenuously to help Palestinians in #Gaza. Our work has saved lives, averted famine, and restored essential services. But this is not enough. Without political will and operational support, things can tip back again.

In Somalia this week I saw urgency of @antonioguterres call to open Strait of Hormuz. Humanitarian community is working to keep lifesaving aid moving: we need governments and business to fast‑track customs and waive logistics, war & fuel surcharges for humanitarian goods. 👇
António Guterres@antonioguterres

The Middle East crisis is in its third month & the whole of humanity is paying the price. All sides must refrain from actions that could undermine the ceasefire. The world needs a peaceful, comprehensive, and durable resolution to the conflict.

Terrible news from South Sudan. @MSF is forced to close Lankien Hospital in Jonglei. 250,000 people are left without lifesaving care. This is part of a dangerous pattern of attacks on healthcare.
MSF International@MSF

We've been forced to permanently close our hospital in Lankien, South Sudan, after it was bombarded on 3 February.  The closure comes after 31 years, serving around 250,000 people who relied on the hospital for lifesaving care. msf.org/msf-forced-clo…

A stroke of a pen in a Finance Ministry. But aid cuts don’t stay on paper. In Somalia, they mean less food and medicine – and clinics further away. My interview with @BeckyCNN:

Somali families are facing triple shock of food delayed by closure of Hormuz, droughts and floods, conflict. The world is making the wrong choices about where to focus its time, energy and money. My interview on @AJEnglish:

Alarm bells for South Sudan from @theIPCinfo: hunger, malnutrition, famine risk are rising.   I saw how conflict and displacement are driving people from their homes and pushing communities to the brink.   We need safe access and more funding. Above all, this conflict must end.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification@theIPCinfo

#SouthSudan The food security situation in South Sudan is worse than projected in the September 2025 IPC analysis, with 7.8 million people facing high levels of acute food insecurity between April and July 2026 — an increase of 280,000 people in IPC Phase 3 and above. .@UNReliefChief tells me his teams on the ground “are choosing which kids to save and which kids not to save.” He stresses this is yet another example of how the Iran war is worsening an already dire situation in Somalia.

Somalia didn’t cause the climate crisis – yet it is among the countries hit hardest by it. Maryama is just one person trying to survive that reality.

In Baidoa, Somalia, cuts are biting and the Strait of Hormuz closure is driving costs up fast. Partners like @MSF are forced to make even harder choices about who to help. We need to get more support to extraordinary humanitarians like Dr. Asma.

In Baidoa, SW Somalia, today. Families fleeing drought and conflict, only to face floods. At one site, 135 households share two latrines. At the hospital, babies too weak to cry. Aid cuts are not a line on a budget. They lead here.
