Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) @JeanineHennis // مكتب المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة في لبنان

My message from Lebanon to the warring parties is clear: Stop the fighting. Stop the bombing. There is no military solution. We need diplomacy, dialogue & the full implementation of the @UN Charter & Security Council resolutions.

Amid the escalation in Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of civilians are fleeing with nothing but what they can carry. I met with several of them to listen to their heartbreaking stories. Civilians must be respected & protected at all times. This war must end.

After meeting with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri in Beirut today, @antonioguterres told reporters that the Lebanese people can count on him and the UN to do everything possible to end this nightmare in Lebanon. un.org/sg/en/content/…

The @UN has just launched a Flash Humanitarian Appeal of USD $308.3 million to support the people of Lebanon. Amid the terrible toll the military escalation is taking across the region, the world must show the people of Lebanon our strongest support. reliefweb.int/report/lebanon…

I’m here as a friend of the Lebanese people in full solidarity with the Lebanese people. @antonioguterres tells journalists following his meeting with President Joseph Aoun in Beirut. un.org/sg/en/content/…

I have just landed in Beirut for a visit of solidarity with the people of Lebanon. They did not choose this war. They were dragged into it. The @UN & I will spare no effort in striving for the peaceful future that Lebanon & this region so richly deserve.
