#SpecimenSpotlight | UPLB MNH houses many priceless specimens which showcase the exceptionally rich biodiversity of the Philippines. One example is a specimen of 𝘚𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘶𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢 Elm. a tree endemic to the Philippines which was collected in March 1931.

#SpecimenSpotlight | Today we're featuring an ant from our Entomological Collection which was collected 100 years ago 😉📷 This 𝘖𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴 (Smith, 1858) was collected by Entomologist Dr. Leopoldo B. Uichanco in September 1923.

#SpecimenSpotlight | Just recently, the species has been renamed to 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 with common name 'Philippine Box Turtle.' Although it is found across South East Asia, it is listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN Red List due to large illegal trade.
