NYC is entering another intense heat wave this week and it’s not just the temperature. The air will be hot and humid, making it harder for your body to cool itself through sweat. This increases the risk of heat-related illness, even for healthy individuals. Plan ahead to stay cool and safe: 💧 Drink plenty of water 🌳 Limit outdoor activity 👵 Check in on neighbors, especially older adults ❄️ Find your cool option: spend time in an air-conditioned space like a library, café, museum, or a family or friend’s home with AC. Cooling centers are also now open. Visit NYC.gov/beattheheat to make your heat safety plan and find a cooling center near you!
