Errors and base running blunders haunt Terps in a 5-3 defeat to Rutgers.

And we need offensive support against good P4 pitching. Wonder why they are 8-3 on mid-week and win more on Sunday? Its bc they are facing lower tier pitching. The team struggles against top pitching. Yes pitching needs to be better but lack of run support and fielding miscues/errors kills a pitching staff especially a struggling pitching staff.

The #DirtyTerps must hate Fridays. Here's a breakdown of their season to date (20-21): Friday 2-8 Saturday 4-6 Sunday 6-4 Midweek 8-3 Need a solid starting performance from our Friday night starter. 🐢⚾️

That was a very diplomatic answer--but yes a good hitting coach. But sucks at being a leader (head coach). "Transition" hasn't gone well as Swope still doesn't talk to the pitchers. Imagine being a head coach and not talking too or being a leader to half the team. Explains why the last 3 seasons have gone exactly the way they have.

For whatever reason that has been nearly every start-i have his ERA well under 3 just removing errors or horrible defensive miscues. Not even accounting for the fewer pitches thrown and unknowns that come from not having to recover extra outs. The defense has been the biggest let down this season, IMO.

I thought Evan Smith pitched a fine game, let down by the defense behind him. When he left in the sixth, the Terps should have been up 3-1 instead of down 5-3.

This is what I've been waiting to see. Kid is 10 months post TJ-looking at his outings this year he came back early for @TerpsBaseball to be ready for B1G play. He hadn't competed for 20 months. Getting it figured out a little more each week. FB has been up to 95. Stock will continue to rise.

@TerpsBaseball PJ's defense is too good to be off the field. With the defensive issues yesterday this needs to be a consideration on Fri/Sat games.

With Swope, it always so "they" can learn--no accountability. Not "I" left Cespedes in the game too long-not for one, or two but three batters. Not that "I" pushed him to many pitches in week 2-- but "they" need to learn. If he didn't apologize to Cespedes, Torres, and Bailey for putting them in that position he failed as a leader and coach. He had a bullpen of arms at minimum after the first walk in the 9th he should of went to the pen. Just bad coaching and then leadership in his response.

@Mikephowes A couple of years ago, Terps had WVU scheduled for a midweek, and WVU canceled due to RPI concerns. At the time, Swope said he'd never schedule them again--that's didn't last long.

Strong nonconference slate for the Terps: West Virginia was ranked No. 28 in RPI last season and reached the Super Regionals. Troy (No. 47) went 39-21 in 2025. Louisiana has made Regionals in 3 of the past 4 years. Virginia will be interesting with new coach Chris Pollard.

@GovWesMoore your apology falls on deaf ears. Your sanctuary policy for criminal illegal aliens is a direct cause of her death. If Maryland cooperated with ICE detainers she would still be alive. not saying necessarily for the deportation of everyone; however, once you are a criminal you should be removed.
