JUST IN: Minister of State @yves_Iradukunda has officially launched the #IndustryConnectSeries; a collaborative initiative between @urcst and @RwandaICT aimed at bridging the gap between students and the tech industry. This platform will connect students with leading tech companies, offering direct exposure to emerging technologies and the critical skills needed to thrive in today’s digital and knowledge-driven economy. The Minister urged students to seize this opportunity, engage with industry players and showcase their potential. He emphasized that the collaboration is a strategic step toward making UR-CST the go-to hub for sourcing top tech talent.

While officially opening the @MCFScholarsUR HATANA Innovation Grants; 2026 Competition, DVC SPA Dr @RayNdikumana encouraged students to fully embrace the enabling environment and opportunities within the university to experiment, learn, and develop solutions that can grow even stronger beyond graduation. Out of an impressive 740 teams, 75 outstanding teams have secured a spot in an intensive 4-day bootcamp, where their ideas will be refined and the most promising innovations will earn grants to take their projects to the next level. While opening #URGirlsConference2026, VC Prof. @mdkayihura encouraged girl participants to make the most of available opportunities by networking and collaborating to succeed. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting girls and students at large in achieving their academic goals and beyond through supporting their innovative, research and entrepreneurship projects. He emphasized that such knowledge and skills are key drivers in advancing the SDGs and #Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation.

While addressing participants at #URGirlsConference2026, Dr. @jbatamuliza outlined @MCFScholarsUR’s rationale for organizing the conference; among others, to promote dialogue and knowledge exchange, and to equip girls with the competencies and skills they need. She encouraged girls to leverage existing platforms and opportunities to thrive, become role models and cultivate the entrepreneurial mindset required in a rapidly evolving world. Dr. Batamuliza is a Tech and Data Science lecturer at UR and the Lead, Prepare and Girls Empowerment at @MCFScholarsUR.

UR TAKES A STAND AGAINST CORRUPTION The University of Rwanda yesterday hosted an anti-corruption program attended by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kayihura M. Didas and Deputy Ombudsman Mukama Abbas, focusing on preventing and fighting corruption. The event marked the official launch of Anti-Corruption Committee activities across all campuses, following their recent appointment. It brought together students and staff from UR Nyarugenge, as well as staff from other Kigali-based campuses, Remera and Gikondo, to strengthen accountability and promote integrity across the university.
