The only time I truly believe it is if multiple reports occur at once. Summerville just didn’t make sense. Especially if they’re contemplating bringing Rashford back. Unless they’re not bringing Rashford back but then it looks like they’re doing one position at a time. They still need a third CM. Personally I don’t think anything. Happens with a LW until Rashford leaves

That’s fair, but saying United were never in for anyone every time a deal doesn’t happen is just as speculative. Reliable journalists like Ornstein, Whitwell and Fabrizio have all confirmed United explored multiple options this summer before walking away from some because of valuation or other concerns.

Remember when Crysencio Summerville was constantly linked with Manchester United. Funny how those links have completely disappeared the moment Marcus Rashford was reintegrated into Carrington. Summerville is still a fantastic player. Last season he contributed double digit goal involvements, averaged over 2 successful dribbles per game, created chances consistently and remained one of the Premier League’s most dangerous one on one wingers despite West Ham’s struggles. At 24, he’s explosive, fearless and direct exactly the profile that fits Michael Carrick’s attacking football. I’d still love to see him in a United shirt. But with Rashford staying, INEOS seem to have shifted priorities. Instead of another left winger, the focus now appears to be strengthening other areas of the squad. Let’s see if Roma get their man or if another Premier League club moves first. #MUFC

This is where stats mean nothing in today’s game. They’re young player who did ok, but as a team we created nothing . (Not having a go I know preseason means nothing) but if you’re pulling out these meaningless stats to switch the narrative in the other direction I feel like someone has level it out

@debornair99 LOL Rooney proved on the pitch his was a top player season in season out. If Rashford is having the same scoring rate as Rooney then I would give him a break. But he doesn’t. Your own comparisons falls flat.

I saw Rashford's debut and have basically seen all games he played for United. I would say this quite comfortably: Marcus Rashford has NEVER been -- as good -- as he is right now. I would also say that he is quite significantly better now, than in 22/23 which is the best he ever been for United after a very good pre season. I am a bit too old for the current EA Sports FIFA style ratings, but if he has peaked at 86 before, he is an 88 now. You get what I mean. There is nothing odd with this: 🔺Physically: Depending on how you are built -- some lose a step when they get into their late 20s. But physically -- many sprinters set their personal bests at around 28-32. Rashford is physically as good as he ever has been, perhaps not better -- but as good. He isn't the type physically who will lose a step at his current age. And remember, Rashford has during his career had some knocks and also had a lot of really heavy usage on the pitch. So for big parts of his MUFC career -- he has not at all been at the levels he is right now physically. 🔺Skill-wise: The more time you get to hone your skills, the better. But in addition -- he has clearly worked darn hard for Barcelona to prove his worth. It can't be wrong for a player who has all his career been at one place, to then go to Barcelona and work extremely hard to compete in training and to prove himself. I wouldn't say that the difference is big -- but he hasn't lost anything technically, how he hits the ball, etc. Also -- if we look at like Rashford's first 4-5 seasons in the PL, he wasn't at all as technically advanced as he is right now. A young Rashy was quite raw. 🔺Decision making: Looking at how he process the game -- he is quite better than he ever has been. This is naturally an aspect that almost always improve with age. The Premier League game is extremely fast. On the pitch, you must make decisions so quick. These things fall into place more and more the older you get. In addition, Rashford has for long long periods in Manchester clearly felt the weight of the pressure on the team. There has clearly been friction within the dressing room. There has clearly at times been friction between him and the manager. This has led to him making worse decisions. Not being in perfect balance on the pitch. 👉I am not Rashford's biggest fan. It is perfectly possible that the "right" move for MUFC is to not bring Rashford back. I don't know -- because I don't know what has gone on behind the scenes. How Rashford is in the dressing room. How things would be impacted if he comes back. BUT -- and I think things like this can easily get lost because opinions on players tends to be formed and rarely changed -- when analyzing MUFC I think it is clear as day that Rashford today, right here, right now, by quite a margin is better than he ever has been. If it is right to bring him back looking at all issues outside the pitch -- it is a fact that we will get a player that is better than he was in 22/23, and a lot better than than what he has been at most points he has worn the shirt for MUFC.

Manchester United had 8, maybe 9 players who could be considered first team regulars involved today vs Wrexham. If you're talking about the performance or the result, give it a rest & stop begging it for attention.

@ManUtd Second half better than first half, but it wasn’t great. That being said it is a preseason friendly which doesn’t mean much. Not bothered about result but Wrexham GK wasn’t tested. Second half was much better from the younger players though

Villa, United and Barcelona have all turned him down. Does he really think a top European team would still come in for him. For the sake of his career he needs to check himself and just join a team that would guarantee him starts. A Spurs/Dortmund/benfica like team. Waiting it out for a top team to come in is absurd. This he has to toe this line. If teams know he’s in the bomb squad and on 350k a week. They’ll try to get him for as cheap as possible. Most likely Rashford will dig his heels in for a top team, nobody would pay more than £15-20 million and he will end up going on loan with his wages paid to a Dortmund/Benfica/Spurs
