On This Date in UVA Sports History... March 20, 2021: @UVAWomensSwimming wins their first of five consecutive NCAA championships in Greensboro, NC. (No team has ever won six in a row. Yet...) Paige Madden capped her college career winning three individual titles: the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle, while also helping the Cavaliers win the 800 free relay. 🔷🏆🔶 #GoHoos

Happy birthday to Antwoine Womack! 🎂 Womack ranks 13th all-time in rushing yards for the Cavaliers, and was the top rusher on the 2000 @UVAFootball team that finished 6-6. Womack rushed for 1028 yards that year, leading the ACC, and scored nine TDs. 🔶🏈🔷

UVA was up 6 at the half but can only muster 23 second-half points, with both Billy Langloh and Wally Walker fouling out. Langloh leads UVA with 14 points. 🔷🏀🔶

March 11, 1989: Paul Ereng wins a national championship for @UVATrack in the 800 meters for the second consecutive year. @ErengP, a native of Kenya, was one of the most celebrated runners in @UVATFCC history, and won an Olympic gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Games while a student. He was recently inducted into the Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame, with the ceremony set to take place in Eugene, Oregon on June 7, just prior to this year's NCAA Championships. 🔶🔷#GoHoos

Happy birthday to Jeff Lamp! 🎂 Lamp, an All-American for @UVAMensHoops in both 1980 and 1981, was named to the All-ACC team four times and held the UVA career scoring record of 2,317 points until Bryant Stith broke it in 1992. Lamp led the Cavaliers to the 1981 Final Four. 🔶🏀🔷

Congrats to @UVAWomensHoops legend @TReiss32 for leading Rhode Island to the Atlantic-10 championship, defeating George Mason 53-51. Tammi served as an assistant coach at UVA from 1993-96, and has been the head coach at Rhode Island for seven years. Over that time she has posted four 20-win seasons and now leads the Rams to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996. This year she was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the third time. 🧡🏀💙

Happy birthday to @UVAMenSoccer legend John Harkes! 🎂 Harkes led the Cavaliers in goals and points in 1987, when he was named the Hermann Award Winner as the National Player of the Year, before playing in the UK and the MLS. Harkes was named to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005. 🔶⚽️🔷

Happy Birthday to @MattBlundin !🎂 Blundin was the starting QB on the 1991 @UVAFootball team, leading the team to an 8-3-1 record while passing for 1902 yards. He holds the UVA record for 231 consecutive passes without an interception. In his spare time, Blundin played four years on the @UVAMensHoops team for Terry Holland and Jeff Jones, scoring 388 points in 107 games. 🔷🏈🏀🔶

On This Date in UVA Sports History... March 6, 1976: It was fifty years ago today that @UVAMensHoops won their first-ever ACC Tournament Championship. And they did so in legendary fashion. After defeating 17th-ranked NC State in the first round on Thursday, the unranked Hoos then defeated 9th-ranked Maryland in the semi-finals on Friday, followed by a 67-62 victory over 4th-ranked North Carolina in the final. Wally Walker was named Tournament MVP. 🔷🏀🔶
