“Doctors are being paid N400k per month,” Actor Wole Ojo raises alarm
E shock u abi?
This won’t gain traction
Considering that a Senior Registrar contracted and died from LASSA FEVER chasing these kinda Salaries
Needle pricks that give Health workers and Doctors Hepatitis and HIV full everywhere…
Some later develop complications from these diseases and die.
Do you know what Hazard Allowance for Doctors in Nigeria is? 32k-40k depending on your level in service. That is ~400k per year. Which amongst Lassa, Hepatitis and HIV can that treat for you in a year?
General hospitals across the country are having less and less doctors, Teaching Hosyamd other training facilities are having fewer and fewer Residents to train.
You see the lacuna being created of shortage of healthcare workers and Doctors, we will soon crash into the lowest part of that pit and it’ll take decades to get out of.
This is a National Crises that is fast becoming a National Disaster.
And guess what, It’s now a National Emergency that no one is taking their time to face.
Enough said….

UPDATE TO MEMBERS
Good afternoon distinguished NARDITES.
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) paid a visit to Prof. Fatima Kyari, Registrar/CEO of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria earlier today.
The delegation was led by the First Vice President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Benjamin O. Olowojebutu.
The visit sought to clarify the salary issues of 57 out of over 2,000 House Officers across FMCs and FTHs across the country.
A detailed conversation revealed that the MDCN has engaged all relevant stakeholders including the OAGF/IPPIS and various Banks with a view to solving this.
This is evidenced by the January Salary payment to those who previously had not started receiving salary.
All 57 House Officers were looked at on a case by case basis, the issues with their payment and the progress made thus far noted. They will soon smile.
We shall continue to engage all relevant stakeholders including the OAGF/IPPIS to ensure that the arrears and salary delays are sorted out.
The NMA and NARD wish to appreciate all the efforts put in by MDCN so as to resolve this matter and appeal to House Officers involved to continue to trust the process. It will be resolved.
The day ended with an interaction between the NMA/NARD and the HOs and progress made discussed.

Our thanks to the NARD President, Dr. Muhammad Usman Suleiman, @mohagirei for his relentless intervention in ensuring House Officers finally received their January salaries today. 🇳🇬🩺
While we breathe a sigh of relief, let’s be clear:

English

House Officers across Nigeria worked throughout January on calls, in wards, in theatres.
Yet their January salaries remain unpaid.
This is unacceptable

House Officers across Nigeria have worked tirelessly since January saving lives, running emergency calls, and sustaining our health system.
Yet, January salaries remain unpaid.
This is unacceptable and unfair.

Delayed salaries are not minor inconveniences.
They mean:
• Borrowing to survive
• Unpaid rent
• Transport struggles
• Mounting bills
• Emotional and mental strain
We cannot keep saving lives while drowning in debt.

Today makes it 39 days without salary for many House Officers.
We have continued working 24/7 — on call, in wards, in emergencies — unpaid.
This is why we are speaking up. 🧵
