@daddyhope They were offered help over the years & refused, they had children taken away by social services & even imprisoned at some point. There was nothing Mental health services could have done esp when they refused, I think deportation was the last resort.

What really strikes me about this case of a man from Ghana who was living with a Zimbabwean woman in England, and who ended up living on private land in a forest in Scotland, is how the media is treating it as entertainment. It is not entertainment. It is tragic. This is clearly a case of mental illness and mental health distress. These are people who need assistance and proper care.
We should not treat them as a spectacle. We should not reduce their situation to something for public amusement. In any country with a functioning system, this man would be in hospital receiving the support and treatment he clearly requires, not being paraded in front of cameras.
Even British newspapers have reported on this, and one has to question whether the tone would have been the same if this were a white Anglo-Saxon man living with a white Anglo-Saxon woman, calling themselves king and queen while living in the bush. It is difficult to believe it would have been handled in this way. There would have been more empathy, more sensitivity, more focus on care rather than spectacle.
It is deeply troubling that this same standard is not applied to black people. It is equally concerning that some Africans themselves are consuming and sharing this as entertainment. This is not entertainment. This is a human being in distress who needs help.
It is painful to watch someone clearly struggling with mental health being treated in this manner. We must respond with compassion, empathy, and humanity when people are going through such circumstances.

Whats missing is more context, I would want to know what percentage of the household income the $200 allowance given to the wife is,does she have her own income? I personally think 15% is ideal but definitely not more that 20% of take-home salary should be spent on groceries.

Most of the UDI era, Apartheid South Africa provided transport links via ports, & banking that allowed the Rhodesian racist regimes goods to access world markets, disguised as South African. Without help from Pretoria, to bypass sanctions the Rhodesians would never have survived.

They're no single dads in the African community. Single dads get help from grandmothers, aunties and every living female relative or friends. Single mothers get to do it on their own .

Of course there were many black people by then in the top English division. But none who wore the colors of an African National Team or identified as African.
