After public vote, name for the Ullapool humpback was: Roy (chosen by Helen MacNicol) So we have a humpy called Roy, after Roy MacGregor, local fisherman who sadly died. Born & raised here, he knew & loved the sea & fishing. The name will go into Scottish and Happy Whale records

So the takeaway is that EV's are practical right now. We had 4 people with luggage traveling at times in horrendous weather and low temperatures. I know there are still issues with infrastructure. Perth and Inverness need more fast charging capacity. It is getting better though.

We now had just enough range to get home. Stopped in Inverness for a quick drink. Back on the fast charger. After 25 mins enough to be home and back to Inverness the next working day. At no point apart from using a charger would we have done anything different in the Skoda.

Just back from a weekend in Glasgow. It's 226 miles from door to door. We had a choice of cars. A top end Skoda Superb or the MG4 EV. We took the MG. Left Ullapool with 70% charge. We could have charged to 100 % but we had something to do in Inverness.

It looks like we may escape the worst of storm Dave. Rain from early evening and winds increasing late evening into early morning gusting 45mph.
