Mary Trump's book about Donald comes out today. She describes him as having a series of mental illnesses. Bigotry against the mentally ill will intensify for a while following this book. It is imperative that you do not demean people for having the same illnesses as Trump.

You can tell Commissioner Gordon is a fictional character because he arrests bad cops and still gets to be a police commissioner.

(This is not a joke by the way. The 'satanic panic' was well in force at the time.)

I never read Harry Potter as a child. My parents said it was the work of the devil. Turns out they were right.

The work begins (still don't have access to mental health services, but this is better than nothing).

@zeepersthewrtr A welcome surprise to meet someone that doesn't know us for bad reasons! We uh... had some psychotic episodes that hurt some people a lot. And kept being triggered into more episodes by the backlash. Still untreated due to a hostile and underfunded mental health system. :(

I wish we could undo it all. What we have done to others from our illness. And what we have done to others for theirs. :(

And yes, I'm saying this in part because I want people to be considerate of our illness, too. It's so hard to be seen as a monster, as 'unsafe', as 'one of the bad ones'. We didn't choose to be schizophrenic. We didn't choose to be delusional, irrational, paranoid, hostile.

We on the left need to have a serious think about how we treat people that act out due to mental illness. I am guilty of cruelty to a schizophrenic person, despite being on the schizo-spectrum myself. I was faced with their delusion and hostile irrationality, and I hurt them.
