@SuperSisi Stage 3 is my favorite (the bones one) including the music. This is how a Castlevania game should feel, including the strutting and pacing of the whip!

@Chris_TV_Live I think it is amazing, specially the music. Also this is one of the best cover artworks from ayami kojima IMHO, this is the character energy that the Netflix series managed to partially capture on Trevor

@RinoTheBouncer I've had to put down Zelda Skyward Sword because at any point the game can emit FIVE different warning alarms... I mean who tf approved that awfulness. To answer your question annoying, intermittent sounds will ruin that game for me

@NoSoloBits The reason for this is that each beam is representative of the console's dominant color: Super NES has a lot of reds, Genesis a lot of greens and the PC Engine lots of blues.

@exquizitely I remember finishing the extra-ugly Mac version back in the day. Game design was oddly engaging!

My nephew was browsing through the shelves in my gaming room and asked where I keep the "older games that I played when I was his age" (he's 14 now). I showed him the section from the early 80s. Obviously, he didn't recognize a single game (making me feel quite old, haha), but for some reason Lode Runner caught his attention.
I said that it's not a "pretty" game in terms of graphics or sound, but that it was one of my favorites back then. We loaded it up, I showed him for about 2 minutes what to do, and we ended up playing it for almost 3 hours. It made me happy for many reasons, but most of all grateful to see that these old games - despite their shortcomings in graphics and sound - can still fascinate even younger generations. Lode Runner by Brøderbund (1983), a truly timeless gem.

@shivi1026 Manipulating randomness has always been fascinating to me. This peaked when I learned about the Perlin noise. I am also quite fond of splines, and OOP was game-changing to me at college.

@nalinrajput23 C++ is quality programming for sure, but very strict. In the other hand Javascript is loose but extremely powerful if you know what you are doing, so those two are my proposals.

@TRIPSTER0 after this sequence that game flattens into the same mediocrity of the PSP gow games

Some PS3 games still hold up pretty well today, crazy how games like God of War still look better than every Switch 2 game in 2025, if this cameout on the Switch 2 today it would be considered by Fanboys the game of the generation just based on graphics alone, boss fights in Metroid Prime 4 don't look anywhere near this good, this destroys Metroid Prime 4 in the graphics department by a huge margin.
