About 50 percent of the time I enter one somebody is doing something they're not supposed to.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji My husband bought a used truck for 1k with 383k miles. Put a new bed on it for 700, new door panel for 50 and rebuilt the engine. Sold it for 10k. You can buy used vehicles cheap, just need to know how to fix them.

“just buy a used car” they said. so here’s what a used car looks like in 2026: 2015 Honda Civic — $14,000 2016 Toyota Camry — $16,000 2017 Ford F-150 — $28,000 these are used cars. with 100k+ miles. that need work. a new car in 2010 cost $28,000. the advice didn’t change. the market did. and now people are signing 7 year loans on used cars they didn’t want just to get to work. “just buy used” was solid advice. it died somewhere around 2021 and nobody updated the script.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji I drive a 2014 Toyota. Over 140k miles when I gave $11000 off the lot. Great car. You have to shop with a price in mind. And be ready to walk if your price isn't met.

As a longtime automotive technician, I have noticed through the years that almost every time manufacturers come up with new and improved it ends up costing the car owner more money. Here is one example. A simple thermostat, which served us fine for years has now been replaced with a water control valve that is actuated by the car’s computer. So we went from a part that cost around $15 to one that now is $250 and up.
