@pintleinjector @INiallAnderson What he means is the vehicle is also lighter due to lower structural margins, meaning it will reach a higher velocity lower in the atmosphere (along with the higher thrust), thereby reducing the time to Max Q. He's not saying the lower structural margins are directly causing it

@INiallAnderson I don’t think so, stress is only gonna increase with velocity and density. If the ascent has the same acceleration/ profile as before then you get max q at the same time. You just end up with an airframe that’s stressing closer to its limits than previously.

What part of the program do you think the next episode of SpaceX's Starship docuseries will be about?

Artemis III orbit type confirmed, @NASA wants new commercial comms system for Live 4K Video COMMUNICATIONS As Orion is designed to fly into deep space, it's designed to rely the Deep Space Network (DSN). That's not available in LEO, and TDRSS is already congested. @NASA would like "live 4K imagery during rendezvous and docking operations, and downlink of large files in other phases of flight." A new request for information (RFI) has just been released, looking for a commercial solution with the following objectives: - Near continuous communication (goal: >75%) - >12 Mbps Downlink (goal: 20-50Mbps) - >500 kbps Uplink - System must provide a broad field of regard or steerable antenna/aperture (Orion has many driving attitude constraints so precise vehicle pointing of a fixed antenna/aperture is not available) I wonder who has a flight-proven, self-steering, on-orbit system for high-bandwidth communications... cough cough @SpaceX @Starlink OTHER DETAILS The RFI says to assume a Summer 2027 launch, and a 460km (250nmi) circular 33° orbit. @NASA had been deciding between a High Earth Orbit (HEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO), and it looks like the latter has been selected. A LEO probably doesn't require the use of an upper stage, saving an ICPS. 📷 L: @NASA | R: @SpaceX

@Hopesundaysam @SpaceX Doesn't make realistic sense to do centre core reuse. The performance of a fully reusable falcon heavy is similar to an expendable falcon 9. It's prefered to do an expendable f9 though, as it doesn't require time changing out LC-39A to support heavy

@SpaceX If SpaceX can reliably recover side boosters like that, do you think the next big leap is making the center core as routinely reusable as the sides, or is full rapid refurbishment the real bottleneck we’re not talking about enough?

Unironically kitten space agency (weird name) would prolly be better if it used those furry anthro designs. It’s actually a quite beautiful game but man, just not a fan of the current kitten design. Not a huge fan of the furry design either but it’s better. That is all.

@Turbolunch @Geekacct @AppleTV I think 5 is better than 3 so far, but reading some other comments I think I just dislike 3 more than most others. They've still got a lot of episodes of 5 to fuck it up (or make it better, who knows)

@Turbolunch @Geekacct @AppleTV damn you thought 3 is outstanding? I loved 1 and 2 but I found 3 really bad. Thought 4 and 5 were better (though still not on the level as series 1 and 2)

@james_raftery @space_jm_ @hmphmajesticall @blueorigin I remember once they told the astronauts their furthest distance in miles, and they replied with "can you put that in km please" Though NASA is entirely metric, like nearly all US engineering. Imperial is only used for displaying info

You know what's even more cringe than using imperial? Using metric internally and posing like you're using imperial publicly. It's a clear PR line they've chosen, I can only presume to present @blueorigin as 'more American' but they look fake af when everyone internal uses metric

@thunderf00t the difference is that starship's failures never failed with a customer payload, while this one did. If NG failed during a test flight (aka, no real operational payload) then it would be the same

I usually don’t tweet about these type of things often, but I’ve been seeing it a lot particularly in Valorant and in the last couple years. It does not matter how popular, hard working, or talented someone is, there will always be consequences. I don’t know when this idea got lost for so many people over the last couple years, but it was a very well-known thing when I started esports 10 years ago. Your image as a person is EVERYTHING nowadays, and its astonishing that orgs/peers don’t try to help or train for it especially with the increased use of social media and the influence it has our on life and work. Basically, don’t be stupid online OR in person, its not that hard 👍
