🔥NEW - buried in the bundle of documents from the Humble Address Keir Starmer was advised by the cabinet secretary Simon Case to do security clearance BEFORE appointment but ignored the suggestion. Case said (If you want a political appointment) "you should give us the name of the person you would like to appoint and we will develop a plan for them to acquire the necessary security clearances and do due diligence on any potential Conflicts of Interest or other issues of which you should be aware *before* confirming you choice" Which feels quite material .....

@FennellJW I’d put money on the crew being equally appreciative of investment in crew numbers and boats so they don’t have to spend so long being away from home.

We may scoff at Starmer visiting the returning CASD crew at Faslane, but it does illustrate recognition of the key role these men and women are playing at this time, and it would be less edifying if their service was not recognised.

Probably the most accurate statement I have seen from someone so high up. 10 years from NOW, and that’s if the money is invested NOW, for the UK armed forces to be ready for combat. 2036. That is way, way too late and risks the UK becoming last in line for key military resources.
