Lots a people are asking about the NCAA D1 & D2 moving away from 5 years to compete 4 to 5 years to compete 5 It’s a rumor that’s been making the rounds. The vote failed last fall at the D1 level. This spring would be the next voting opportunity which many administrators say is going to happen D2 takes a vote on it this spring. Bottom line, as of today 5 in 5 is NOT a rule at any level. And while I’m at it, as of today, Junior College years DO count against NCAA & NAIA eligibility The limited exceptions of the past DO NOT apply towards all future student-athletes @SRUSA_Official

Contacting a college coach? My advice… DO NOT follow a pre-formed template Templates are lazy Any college coach with half a brain can see straight through them They tell me you really don’t care that much That you’re not that interested in researching your future Concepts that represent who you are take more time but are 💯 the way to go! The Basics are simple: Why do you want to be at their school? What about their school attracts you? What about the area attracts you? Why should they recruit you? 1st you MUST convince them you want to be THERE & with THEM! Do that in a sentence or 2 after along with: Grad year GPA Test Scores Main positions Team name Shirt number Contact information BEST OF THE BEST highlight film link 🔗 that opens with 30 seconds of 🔥 Full match link 🔗 Coaches are more willing to spend time investigating you once they know you’re not blindly contacting every coach with a copy and paste form hoping something will stick! Need help? Just ask! Helping players is all we do @SRUSA_Official

Parent asked a good question ❓ “Just curious how long does a player wait to be played? 1st season 2nd season 3rd season an last 4th season .. ????” My response: Any player making any college roster, essentially has a 4 year trial to make the playing squad! It’s up to each individual to either: Improve enough to get that coveted PT or decide the mountain is too high for them to climb Once the 2nd scenario is in play, a player has to decide if they like the school enough to stay at and graduate Or If they were only there to play their sport, they might want to move on and transfer to a school that is the right fit for ALL their needs, not just playing @SRUSA_Official

2026 recruits it’s time to start preparing for your incoming freshman year. If you think you are fit enough, you are not. Your college coach wants you to come in passing their fitness test(s) and ready to play a full game (whether you will or not). Parent Question: “Is a transfer expected to enroll in spring? what happens if they're on a lease or already registered with courses at their current school?” Answer: Great question—and this is where transfers often get tripped up. No, a transfer is not automatically expected to enroll in the spring. Transfers can enroll either in the spring or the fall, depending on the athlete’s situation, eligibility, roster needs, and academic alignment. What if the athlete is already committed at their current school? Leases •Athletes are not required to break a lease to transfer. •Many finish the academic term, transfer for the next semester, or plan a fall move to avoid financial penalties. •Timing is flexible and can be planned strategically. Already registered for classes •Being registered does not lock you in. •Classes can be dropped once a transfer decision is finalized. •Credits are reviewed to ensure maximum transferability and eligibility. The bigger issue most families miss The real challenge isn’t when you enroll—it’s: •Preserving NCAA eligibility •Managing the transfer portal correctly •Aligning academics, roster needs, and scholarship timing •Avoiding mistakes that delay eligibility or cost money Where SRUSA Transfer Club comes in This is exactly why SRUSA created Transfer Club. We help athletes: •Decide spring vs. fall enrollment based on what’s best for their career—not pressure •Navigate the NCAA transfer portal and timelines •Coordinate with coaches, compliance offices, and academic advisors •Plan around leases, credits, and current enrollment with zero guesswork •Move with clarity, leverage, and protection Transfers don’t fail because they lack options. They fail because one wrong decision is made without expert guidance. SRUSA Transfer Club exists to make sure every move is strategic, compliant, and in the athlete’s best interest. @SRUSA_Official

A parent asked me to address College ⚽️ ID camps: My take is that 6th-10th grade girls and 6th-11th grade boys need to stop viewing ID camps as a “now they will recruit me” experience & just view them more of “let me see what these coaches & this school are about” experience. I’d use ID camps to solidify already established relationships, not so much to “be discovered” Also, camps for the purpose of improving can be useful but you have to be choosy on this one, not all are the same. I wouldn’t go crazy on the camp to camp to camp circuit thing or you’ll go broke fast. Recently had a decent player spend over $12,000 going to camps & still had 👌🏼offers Need help? Just ask @SRUSA_Official

🚨FAFSA ALERT 🚨 The 2026–27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is available now at fafsa.gov. If your child plans to attend college or career/trade school between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, encourage them to fill out their FAFSA form right away to be eligible for as much aid as possible. Remember: Your child must submit a FAFSA form every year they're in school to stay eligible for federal student aid. We recommend that your child complete their sections of the FAFSA form first to save time and prevent errors. Once they're finished, your child will send you an invitation to their FAFSA form with instructions on how to access and submit it. @SRUSA_Official

Women’s D1 soccer transfer portal stats (2025 update): ~12,100 total players (339 teams) 700–800 enter the portal every year → 6–7% turnover Roughly half of all college soccer transfers are women Coaches reserve ~20% of roster spots for transfers (vs 25–30% on men’s side) Volume has doubled since 2018 — exploded after 2021 one-time rule & 2024 unlimited transfers The portal is now the #2 recruiting source behind high school — and it’s not slowing down. Fall window closes Dec 17. Buckle up. ⚽️ #NCAASoccer #TransferPortal @SRUSA_Official
