I would go back even further. One could argue that the rank and file didn't really get to choose any nominee in a truly free and open primary fight since Obama, and it shows.

Some people want me to specify ways Democrats could move right culturally. There are many potential options here but let's start with an easy one: Democrats need to remove the phrase "toxic masculinity" from our vocabularies. It is *not helpful.* 1/2

@CameronCorduroy @ninnymuggins95 I don't think this is true. Obama *spanked* McCain, and McCain was well liked. He had 60 Senate seats briefly. I think presidents are just likely screwed by circumstances sometimes.

Everything is apolitical or rw. Google tells me that the reason for the suggestions is "I'm a man in my 30's", and this is so predictive that there is literally nothing I can do to make it stop apparently.

I do think there might be something to non-traditional media. I literally cannot train my Google algorithm to not spam Joe Rogan or Tucker Carlson or whatever at me, (despite constant feedback). I have never been fed anything remotely left of center.

People are joking that the model is basically a coin flip but it actually seems even less variable than a coin flip. The probability of getting a result that close to 40000 on 80000 coin flips is 6.8%. Hard to believe.
