100 years ago today, the 26th day of the Winnipeg General Strike, the Winnipeg police were fired after refusing to sign an anti-strike pledge. Previously, the police had remained on duty at the request of the Strike Committee.

One hundred years ago today, ten days into the Winnipeg General Strike, the Labour Cafe opened its doors in the Strathcona Hotel, located on the corner of Main and Rupert, the current location of the Manitoba Museum.
