@almost_cooking @Unite4Sally People tend to put way to much control and blame at Ian's hand, but being bitter at Ian for... ruining Sally's reputation... by referencing a 90s catchphrase maybe twice since he started working directly with Sega... Thats a new one to me. 😅

Sally Acorn has a bit in common with the Star Wars character, Mara Jade. -Both have appeared mainly outside of their media's main canon. Sally has appeared mainly outside of the Sonic the Hedgehog games and Mara Jade has appeared outside of the Star Wars movies. -Both have extensive appearances in comic books with Sally appearing in the Archie Comics and Mara Jade appearing in the extended Star Wars Universe comics (Now called Legends). -Both are love interests to the main hero, with Sally being Sonic's girlfriend and eventual wife in Light Mobius while Mara Jade falls for and marries Luke Skywalker where both experience the joys of motherhood. -Both are trained fighters with witty personalities. Essentially they are fiery red-heads. -Both have been dealing with the struggles of war from a young age and have had to adapt. -Both have used laser blades in some form, with Sally having her wrist blades from the reboot and Mara using the classic lightsaber. -Both have been voiced by Kath Soucie in different media. For Sally in SatAM. For Mara in Empire at War. -Both are unfortunately in a weird state of limbo where they aren't considered "canon" to their respective media. -Both have a group dedicated to bringing them back, that being #Rally4Sally and #GiveUsLegends. -Both had fandoms who miss their presence and would love to see them again. To Sally Acorn and Mara Jade, here's hoping these girls can return to the limelight in some way, along with their respective media. ~MR

Actually, you've failed to make your original point, you claimed I was delusional for saying Ian ruined "Let's Do It To It" and wanting Sally back, then claimed the only reason fans want her back is because of Ian's shit run. Now you're focusing on Surge. That tells me you can't counter my points. I actually have a few examples: In the Eggperial City arc, he quickly resolved Belle's arc with her just moving on and hating Eggman, with the latter not changing at all. In the Phantom Rider arc, we're told the Restoration was corrupt and had disbanded, but when Ian got back on he said "nope," same with Clutch's company dissolving because of his criminal behavior. Any consequences are swept aside to maintain the status quo. As for Surge and Kit in particular, Kit hasn't developed, while Surge seems to want to be a hero, Kit aims to make her one by faking incidents to give her success. Eventually, they will be one villains again, mark my words. Saying it now, you have not read Ian's Archie run, and haven't been paying attention to the treadmill IDW Sonic will be on until it dies. -Risso

@Unite4Sally How has Ian trampled on Surge's development? He's barely touched her since her debut in #50, Surge (and the comic as a whole) has largely been driven by Evan Stanley for a few years now.

No, YOU live in a bubble if you think that. Plenty of Sally fans have issue with his writing, particularly for Sally. Under his pen, she was a plot device for drama, she always either angry or crying. Him pairing her with Monkey Khan created that meme of her beiny a slut. He's made more people hate Sally than like her, but her fans continued to like her in spite of him. Frankly, as a Surge fan, I'm surprised you're going to bat for him, since he's the one that tramples on amy character development she has. And no, my points are completely valid and true. 😝 -Risso

Saw this going around and it brought to mind a depressing thought: "Let's do it to it." Was the catchphrase for Sonic in SatAM and (to a small degree,) Archie. Ian Flynn brought it back to try and lure in fans of those series like he did by teasing the return of the FF in IDW. And because of his terrible dialogue and characterization, as well as overuse, people have grown to hate it. Things like this are why Sally fans in particular have such an issue with him, he makes even the smallest things worse because he runs them into the ground. I'm hoping when we get Sally back, the phrase can be used properly as part of a beautiful new tapestry that would be a new continuity. -Risso

Decided to try and see if I could find any recent info on these statues. Sadly, their status is more or less the same, though the Sonic statue appears to have received further damage, as indicated by the pictures. The owner still refuses to sell them, he apparently is a hoarder and very stubborn. For those who don't know, these statues were on display at SEGA World, an amusement park run by SEGA in Sydney, Australia. As such they are massive pieces of Sonic history, and a particularly important piece of Sally's history, as it indicates SEGA, at one time, considered her a core part of the brand.
