Canada is facing real economic, social and global pressures. In moments like these, Canadians are clear about who they trust. Universities educate the nurses, teachers and skilled workers Canada relies on and drives research that strengthens healthcare, technologies and local economics. #PossibleWithU is about making that impact clearer.

Thanks @LindseyDeluce at CTV @YourMorning for having our CEO @gabrielbmiller on to talk about AI and what it means for Canadians. As AI becomes part of everyday work, universities are where people gain the skills to develop and use these tools responsibly.
Gabriel Miller 🇨🇦@gabrielbmiller

Spent the morning on CTV @yourmorning talking about AI — and the conversation Canada should really be having. AI is shaping how Canadians work and learn: Nearly three in 10 Canadians are using AI at work, and about 60% of occupations are exposed to it in some way. The real question isn’t whether AI will change our lives. It’s who will shape it — and Canada’s universities are helping train the talent who will build and apply these technologies across our economy. Thanks for having me on, @LindseyDeluce.

Preparing Canada’s workforce takes innovation and Canada's universities are doing exactly that by bridging learning to real-world experience. @uofg's new WEX program expands paid, full-time work experiences — preparing students for in-demand careers while strengthening the national talent pipeline. Preparing talent at scale is essential to Canada’s prosperity, and universities are leading that work: news.uoguelph.ca/2026/03/new-pr…

Food security depends on resilience — and resilience depends on research. From crop science to #AI tools and sustainable production, members like @usask, @uwaterloo and @uofg are helping food producers adapt to a changing climate and a changing world. These innovations support producers, rural communities and Canada’s long-term competitiveness in agri-food: hilltimes.com/2026/03/09/the…
Gabriel Miller 🇨🇦@gabrielbmiller

For generations, Canada has been able to rely on a strong and stable food system. That assumption is now being tested. Recently in @TheHillTimes, I reflected on how Canadian universities are helping farmers adapt to climate pressures and global uncertainty through research and innovation. Micah believed in the power of Indigenous knowledge to protect the planet — and he lived that belief every day. Born and raised in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, B.C., and of Métis heritage, Micah brought optimism, creativity and care to everything he did. He was deeply committed to Indigenous education, environmental conservation and water stewardship, blending academic insight with traditional ways of knowing. He was the kind of person who inspired connection — whether through his work, his friendships or his music. A self-taught ukulele, guitar and banjo player, Micah made space for others and believed in solutions that honoured both the Earth and community. Today, recipients of the Flight 302 Legacy Award are continuing his work — advancing environmental and Indigenous-led solutions that reflect the same hope and dedication Micah brought to the world. Darcy dedicated his life to protecting wildlife and the environment — a mission rooted in courage, conviction and compassion. As a tireless advocate for the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS), he worked to safeguard the Arctic Ocean for future generations. He was on his way to the United Nations Environment Assembly to raise awareness about this critical initiative when his life was tragically lost on Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. Today, his legacy lives on through the recipients of the Flight 302 Legacy Award — students who are equally committed to environmental and wildlife protection. Their work carries forward Darcy’s belief that meaningful change starts with those brave enough to act. Read more about this year’s scholarship recipients and their work: tinyurl.com/Flight302En
