Nearly 94 per cent of promising new drugs fail before reaching patients, often because problems emerge late in development. #QueensU researcher Fanwang Meng is working to change that by developing machine learning models that analyze chemical structures and experimental data to help scientists identify potential risks earlier in the drug discovery process. The Queen’s community is remembering Principal Emeritus Bill Leggett, who served as Principal and Vice-Chancellor from 1994 - 2004. As a respected academic and accomplished leader, Dr. Leggett helped usher in a transformative decade at Queen’s, marked by the addition of new academic and residence buildings on campus, increased research funding, and a rise in national and global prominence. Smith Engineering at #queensu joined Canada’s leading engineering schools in Hong Kong to mark 100 years of the Iron Ring. The gathering also brought together more than 250 @SmithEngQueens alumni in the region and opened the door to new global partnerships and academic collaboration.
