Dating in Nigeria is actually an extreme sport, I swear. If you are looking for uncomfortable truths about love & dating, just look at what happened to my guy recently.👇 He invited this babe out for a simple, casual lunch, and she literally brought a crowd. He had asked her out to this nice spot in VI and budgeted around 30k, just for the two of them to grab a bite, chill, and get to know each other. Tell me why this babe showed up with two of her besties, claiming they were just in the neighborhood. To make matters worse, these girls didn't even hold back, they ordered the most expensive steaks and cocktails on the menu. When the waiter brought the bill, it was a whopping 145k! My guy didn't even argue or make a scene. He just paid, smiled at them, ordered his Uber, and blocked her number the exact second he closed the car door. 😂 That right there is how you raise standards. We don't accept bare minimum here, and we definitely don't tolerate zero etiquette." Omo, people have suffered in this country. We really need to fix our mindset when it comes to how we treat people. Guys/babes, what’s the most outrageous billing you’ve ever experienced on a date? Let's hear it!👇

“My landlord just made a new rule: you must buy all your food and provisions from his wife. Meanwhile, her prices are higher than outside. Sachet water is ₦600 elsewhere, she’s selling it for ₦700. If you come home with groceries, they’ll even check your bag like you’re smuggling contraband" If your landlord pull this kind stunt what will be your next reaction? Is this even possible?

Two months ago, I bought a new generator from an Igbo man's shop. I also purchased some fuel and a brand new engine oil to test it that same day. It was working perfectly fine. After the test, he wrote a receipt, packaged the generator, and I left with it. I used the generator for just one week before travelling to Lagos for an assignment, where I spent the next two months. Before leaving, I properly packed up the generator and locked it away. Upon my return from Lagos two months later, I discovered that our transformer had developed issues and there had been no electricity in our area for almost two weeks. I bought some fuel to power my new generator, but after running for a while, it would suddenly stop and go off. Eventually, it stopped working completely. Thinking it might be an engine oil problem, I changed the oil, but the generator still refused to start. I took it back to the seller and asked him to replace it. He refused, saying it had been two months since I bought it, and that if it had any issues, I should repair it rather than expecting a new one. I explained that I had only used it for one week before travelling to Lagos and had not touched it for the entire two months I was away. I questioned why I would need to repair a brand new generator that I had barely used. I insisted that he replace it, but he still refused, and the situation became heated. What I really don’t understand is why he doesn’t want to replace it and give me a new one.

...really liked it. Afterward, I walked away. While I was heading home, I deliberately called my partner's best friend and asked why she had never mentioned that my woman was getting married. She asked who had told me, but I just kept pressing her on why she kept it a secret. Eventually, the friend apologized and explained that my partner had asked her not to tell anyone. My partner never posted any wedding photos anywhere, and neither did her friends. It felt as though they were all in on the deception. I was heartbroken. I didn't even know whether I should call her or not. My mother even prepared fufu with palm nut soup and meat, but I would just dip my hand in the soup and lick it; I simply couldn't eat. I used to stare at my phone for hours, hoping she would call, but she never did. Finally, I picked up my phone and texted her one word: "Why?" The message showed two blue ticks, and shortly after, I realized she had blocked me on every platform. It took therapy to get me to the place where I am today 😔😔. You have no idea what I went through. I used to stand under the shower for an hour straight, letting the water pour over me while listening to "SOSO" by Omah lay 😩😩.

I’m supposed to take this to my grave but..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 during my relationship with this girl, one time she called me and said she feels like doing something adventurous so we should go on a cake date. I asked myself what’s adventurous about going on a cake date but I was like okayy cool no yawa. So by close of work, she came to pick me up from the office and we headed straight to the bakery. Before we got there she said “Santo just play along” I was like what are you talking about and she said, “Santorini just play along”. I kept my cool and followed her. When we got to the counter, she told the lady we are about to get married and we would like to order a wedding cake but first, we would like to try their flavors... my jaw just dropped😂😂 I was about to deny it and she gave me some eye eerrhh😂. Luckily, the lady didn’t notice, so we sat down and were served various cakes in different flavors. After tasting them, my girlfriend showered the baker with praise, telling her it was the best cake she had ever eaten. She even told the baker that we would return with our own custom design. The baker was thrilled because my partner told her our budget for the cake was N900k. That was how we managed to have a "cake date" without paying a cent. The cake was actually quite good; however, a week after that date, she began acting strange. She rarely answered my calls and was very slow to reply to my messages. Whenever I asked to see her, she offered flimsy excuses. I was deeply hurt, and every time I complained, she just came up with more excuses. One day, while I was walking through town, I spotted the baker. I tried to hide, but she saw me and approached. She asked if we had enjoyed the wedding cake and said she hoped that what they delivered was exactly what we had ordered. I was completely confused because I had no idea what she was talking about. She then added that my "wife" had come in with her brother a week prior to show them the design they wanted, and that someone had picked it up that Saturday. I played along and said it was really nice and that everyone...

Early this year, in January to be precise, my good friend told me he wanted to visit his parents back home. I suggested going with him since I had never been to Benue State before, and he agreed. He is from Benue State, a native of Gboko LGA, and his family lives in Ikumu town. When we arrived in his village, the reception was incredible. They didn’t treat me merely as a guest they treated me like one of their own. We toured the town, enjoying the hospitality and warmth of his family. But the part that shocked me the most came at nightfall. The family house is quite large, and I was given a room to sleep in. To my surprise, a married woman the youngest daughter of the family came into the room, intending to sleep beside me. At first, I was completely confused. My friend’s father then came and explained that it was part of their culture to provide a visitor with a woman to share the bed with for the night. He added that this tradition had been going on for generations, so I could not refuse. The most shocking part? Her husband was present too. I couldn’t sleep at all that night; the thought of sleeping beside another man’s wife weighed heavily on me. The next morning, I greeted my friend and told him I would like to visit my aunt who lives in Enugu. He asked several times if I was upset, but I lied and said no. He even asked if the arrangement was okay with me, and I replied yes, just to avoid confrontation. That was how I quietly made my escape I left and never looked back. That night left a mark on me I’ll never forget a shocking reminder that some traditions are stranger, darker, and more unsettling than anything I could have imagined.

Guys, for the past 1 hour, I have been downstairs with my neighbour and the house staff. The estate transformer blew during the heavy downpour on Saturday night. Sunday night, the officials came to fix it but when they brought the light today, I didn’t have light. Everyone else in the compound had and I didn’t 😭 It was worse cos they brought the light immediately fuel finished from my generator so you ca . My Indian neighbour.. remember the one I used to give food to? The one that requested for more Jollof rice after tasting it the first time?😅 He took it upon himself, came downstairs to check the meter… we made calls and it dawned on us that no electrician could come this night. This man took the risk, loosed all the wires and things that needed to be loosed, figured out which phase had light and helped me fix it. Now I have light 🥹🥹❤️❤️… I had even given up at some point but he kept trying. While he was doing it and I think one wire scratched him, he said “Ah, Ada you must feed me tomorrow oh” 😂😂😂😂 Me: 😂😂😂😂 Anyways, water is pumping now and my air con is blowing me 😩. The official in charge of my meter will come fix and tidy everything properly tomorrow. Goodnight guys and don’t forget to greet your neighbours and occasionally gift them. You never know when it’ll come in handy 😁😁

Sadly, I was working in a hotel for 3years as a bar girl or waitress and was able to save up to 7.3million then. Due to family issue and also sincerely I was camping a man at home then. I went down to 5.7m. I decided to open my own bar inside ajegunle last year January. I spent almost 5.3m to setup a small bar then without any support. The business was going down and I had no money to fund it. The suppose man that I had was even collecting the little I had. To make matters w0rse, my landlord was an enemy of progress. If you go to that shop now It is closed and my rent is still on but no funds to run it 32 oyegunle, olodi Apapa. My advise to ladies. No carry man for head.

Last night, I was checking WhatsApp status when I saw one of my exes I stopped talking to a few months ago because of her behavior. She posted a video shaking her ass that caught my attention, so I dropped, "What's making you shake your ass like this?" She replied, "Na peace of mind." From there, we started talking, and I decided to call her. I asked her to come over so we could talk properly and settle things. Me: "I want to see you tomorrow." Her: "Where?" Me: "At my place, of course!" Her: "No, I can't come to your place. If you want us to talk, take me out on a date." As how na? From where to where? When did that one start? Even when I started with you back then, I didn’t take you out on a date, and now you want me to take you out on a date? Omo, this girl insisted that she’s not coming to my house. Well, I finally blocked her.

My Yaho0 neighbor just got scammed… He has been chatting with one Oyinbo woman for like four months. He already got his international passport, telling everyone who cared to listen that he would soon japa. He kept billing her, but she kept whining him. Last week, she said she was coming to Nigeria and needed a naira account for some transactions in Lagos immediately. This upcoming Yah0o guy then gave her his Opay login details. His plan was that before she came to his state, she wouldn’t be stranded. He woke up the next morning to find over ₦1 million gone. He called her on their usual chat platform, blocked. He traced the account… a Yoruba man’s name appeared. Now he wants to tear his international passport. We are begging him....

I once had a fight with my then-boyfriend (now ex), because I refused to have s£x with him one night. The most annoying part was that I was on my period, but he insisted I was just wearing a pad to deceive him. I got really upset and, out of anger, spoke to him harshly. He responded by slapping me, and it escalated into a full fight. He injured me badly that night, and I ended up destroying most of his valuables. His neighbors eventually intervened, and I slept at one of their houses. I left the next morning and blocked him everywhere. He was just a dog, and I don’t understand why some men act like they’ll d!e without s£x.

The case of Chief Ignatius Odunukwe, a billionaire businessman from Anambra State, is one of the most chilling high-profile murder cases in recent Nigerian history. The Crime (December 2019)Chief Ignatius Odunukwe, the owner of Fireman Generators, went missing after leaving his home in Ikoyi to meet a prospective buyer for his property in Abuja, valued at 900 million Naira. The "buyer" was actually Daniel Bob Ibeaji, a medical doctor (who was later found to be a serial fraudster). Ibeaji and three accomplices (Arinze Nwosu, Cletus Ihieeni, and Solomon Arinze) lured the Chief to a hotel in Ajah. There, they injected him with a lethal substance, strangled him, and chopped his body into pieces. They packed his remains into a plastic bag and dumped them in a canal in the Ogombo area of Ajah, Lagos. The trial took place at the Lagos State High Court. Because the evidence was so overwhelming—including CCTV footage, recovered property documents already signed by the victim under duress. The recovery of the body parts led by the suspects themselves, the judicial process moved toward a final conclusion. In recent developments leading into 2025/2026, the primary suspect, Daniel Bob Ibeaji, and his co-defendants were found guilty of conspiracy and murder. Under Lagos State law, the mandatory sentence for murder is death. The court sentenced the perpetrators to death by hanging. During the investigation, it was discovered that Chief Odunukwe was not Ibeaji's first victim. He was linked to at least two other similar murders of wealthy individuals (including one in Abuja) where he lured victims under the guise of real estate deals to steal their assets. Current Status They are currently on death row in a Nigerian correctional facility. This case is often cited by security experts as a warning to high-net-worth individuals about the dangers of meeting "buyers" in private or unverified locations without security details. #crimestory

Living in a shared compound can teach you a lot about patience… and human behavior. 😅 The compound where I stay has four flats, and we depend on about five GeePee tanks for water storage. To keep water running, all the tenants contribute money which we give to the security man so he can pump water whenever the tanks run low. Now, this security man isn’t just the gateman. He’s also the person the landlord entrusted with access to most of the compound’s facilities, the generator, the water pump, and the Sumo. So naturally, he’s the one in charge of pumping water for everyone. He lives in the security house with his family of six. His wife runs a food business from there, which means they use quite a lot of water daily. Here’s where it gets interesting. Every month, we also pay a fixed amount to the property lawyer for the security man’s salary. In other words, the tenants indirectly pay him, and he lives in the compound free of charge. But the real issue is the water contributions. After just two rounds of pumping, which barely last five days in total, he comes around again announcing that we need to contribute fresh money so he can “pump water for you people.” Meanwhile, in my flat, we’re only two people and we barely use water for anything excessive. What makes it uncomfortable for me is the lack of accountability. There’s never any explanation of how the previous money was spent. No breakdown. Nothing. Just another announcement for more money. And if you dare ask questions like: “How come the water finished so quickly?” His voice suddenly rises so the entire compound, and possibly the neighborhood, can hear how he’s “suffering and running around pumping water for us,” as if asking a simple question means you’re accusing him of something. At that point, you’re left looking like the troublemaker. So now I’m stuck in a strange place. I don’t want unnecessary conflict with someone who controls access to water and the generator. But at the same time, it feels wrong to keep contributing money weekly without any transparency, especially when the biggest water consumer in the compound isn’t even contributing. So I’m curious… Have you ever found yourself in a situation like this in a shared living arrangement? 🤔 How did you handle it without turning the whole place into a war zone?

Watching this video made me remember the night my ransom was paid, make I gist una small. That night was the 8th day in captivity, the same day they said the ransom had finally arrived. It was already very late in the night, deep inside the forest, when we suddenly started hearing movements and whispers among the kidnappers. A few minutes later, some men arrived carrying ₦15 million cash and the other items the kidnappers had demanded. They spread a mat on the ground and arranged the money on top of it. The bundles of cash were stacked there while they prepared to count it. All of them were very excited Some started drinking alcohol, smoking, and eating food like they were celebrating something big. You could hear laughter everywhere. Lowkey, inside my heart, I was happy too. I kept telling myself quietly, "This suffering don end… tomorrow I go see outside again." I was even hoping maybe they would give me something better to drink or eat, since money had already been paid. But for where… They ate everything by themselves. After they finished drinking and eating, they threw the empty cans toward where we were lying down. Omo… that moment pain me. I just realize say for their eyes we no be human beings at all. We were weak, hungry, dirty, and exhausted, but nobody cared. Not long after that, some of their senior men sat down and started counting the money bundle by bundle. Suddenly, an argument broke out. At first it was just shouting. Then it turned into a serious fight. They began accusing each other about the money. Some of them even carried their guns, shouting and threatening to shoot themselves. For a moment, it looked like they might kill themselves right there. At that point, we the abducted people started whispering among ourselves. In our minds we were already thinking: "If this fight get worse, maybe this na our chance to run." Our hearts were beating fast. Nobody spoke loudly, but everyone was watching carefully. After some time, the older ones among them calmed the situation and settled the argument. Then they continued counting the money again. The counting went on for some minutes until they finally finished. After that, they shouted at us: "Stand up!" We quickly stood up from where we had been lying down in chains and sat up quietly. Then one of them, a man they called Farooq, stepped forward. He brought out a thick cable used for motorcycles. Before we could understand what was happening… He started flogging us one after the other. The cable was very painful on the body. Nobody dared to shout too much because we were scared it might make things worse. After beating us like that, he angrily told us: "Lie down! (kwanta) Sleep!" That night, even though ₦15 million had already been paid, i still slept on the bare ground in the forest, hungry, in pain, and not knowing what the next morning would bring. But deep inside my heart, I kept hoping… "Maybe tomorrow… I will finally leave this hell." Omo, I see shege for my life o. 🥹😭

When I was about 12yrs old, there was a river close to my house where many children in my area went to swim sometimes. I usually followed my friends there, but I never joined them in the water because I didn’t know how to swim and I’ve always had a deep fear of water. People in the area also believed that different kinds of sacrifices were often dropped in that river, and there were rumors about mermaids and strange spirits living in it. Whether those stories were true or not, they only made my fear worse. One afternoon, we went there as usual and I stood by the river watching while my friends swam. I was standing on top of a rock looking down at them when someone suddenly pushed me into the river.

My neighbor has been married for 5 years. She is a registered nurse in a private hospital, earning about ₦500,000 every month. Her husband, on the other hand, has been jobless for a long time and mostly stays at home. Yet she is the one carrying everything on her shoulders. She pays the rent. She buys the food. She even buys clothes for her husband. But instead of gratitude, what she gets in return is something else entirely. They have been married for five years without a child, and he never misses an opportunity to throw it in her face. Anytime they have the smallest misunderstanding, he calls her “barren.” Sometimes, it doesn’t stop at words. Two days ago, he asked her for ₦50,000, and she gave it to him without argument. Then this morning, just as she was about leaving for work, he asked for another ₦10,000. She calmly asked what he needed the money for. That simple question was enough to trigger him. He started b£ating her. By the time she left for work, her eye was swollen. That was why she wore those dark glasses I saw earlier. She told me later, in tears: “I’m tired of this marriage. I feel like a stranger in my own home.” And honestly, hearing her story left me wondering: How long should someone keep enduring this kind of pa!n in the name of marriage?
