Tungsten (Wolframite): Notable occurrences are found at Jhilimili in the Bankura district. Oil & Natural Gas: The Ashoknagar oilfield in North 24 Parganas, discovered by ONGC, is the first commercially viable site in the state. Ongoing exploration has confirmed further gas finds in Nadia and North 24 Parganas. Coal Bed Methane (CBM): Extracted from coal seams, particularly in the Raniganj area. Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG): A major ₹13,052-crore coal-to-SNG project is currently under development in Paschim Bardhaman through a joint venture between Coal India Ltd and GAIL. Shale Gas: Reserves have been identified in the Bengal Basin, and are considered a "game changer" for the state's industrial future. Metals: Small quantities of copper (Purulia), iron ore (Bardhaman, Birbhum), and lead-zinc (Darjeeling). Others: Quartz/Silica sand (Bankura, Hooghly), Barytes (Purulia), Kyanite (Purulia), and Manganese ore (Paschim Medinipur). "They" want to hand over these to the crony capitalists.
