@afpromania If you change only those items, your configuration should be OK. Still, we do recommend to check #Further_reading" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">unrealircd.org/docs/Installin… afterwards. Like, you may want "Services", and we very much encourage you to get a valid TLS cert from Let's Encrypt (or similar), as mentioned there.

@afpromania UnrealIRCd has an insane amount of options you could possibly change/set. However, we do care very much about "good defaults" (as that's what 99% of users will use). If you use our example.conf then only a few changes are necessary. We even marked them with "CHANGE THIS".

UnrealIRCd 6.2.2 is out! Fixes a few minor issues. If running 6.2.1 then no reason to upgrade. But if you are still running 6.0.x/6.1.x then we highly recommend to upgrade to 6.2.x in December. The 6.2.x series have proven to be stable and are a leap forward in terms of security.

For example, you could start with using Strict Transport Security to automatically redirect users from plaintext to TLS if they have a capable IRC client, such as mIRC, AdiIRC, IRCCloud, The Lounge, Colloquy, Palaver, and even bots like BitBot and Limnoria.

Starting with UnrealIRCd 6.2.0-beta3 we now print a "best practices"-advice to close user plaintext ports (such as port 6667). See unrealircd.org/docs/Use_TLS on how to move your users to SSL/TLS step-by-step.
