What a fantastic experience Winchester day we had on Saturday! The rain may have found us, but we were very busy inside our crime scene house then our two labs giving our applicants a taste of what’s to come!

The survey is intended to discover the real-life forensic applications of phenotyping (if there are any) by asking police officers about their experience with this technology.

The research will delve into the implications of this technology within the forensic sectorand theoretically discuss if this technology can be used to detect psychopathy. +

🔬CONGRATULATIONS, DOCTOR MANELLI🪰 Dr. Luca Manelli (@lucamanelli_ ) has received his PhD with the thesis title: The effect of accelerants and fire on blow fly colonisation and development: implications for forensic entomology and determination of minimum post-mortem interval

⚪️WORD WEDNESDAY: K 🔴 KASTLE-MEYER TEST: developed by Joseph H. Kastle and Erich Meyer, it relies on the conversion of a reduced, colorless form of phenolphtalein into its oxidized, pink form. That happens when haemoglobin present in blood reacts with hydrogen peroxide.

🐕‍🦺K9s ON SITE🐕 Guest Visitors Lauren and Andy (and Woody and trainee Red) met our L6 students ahead of their Hampshire Fire and Rescue fire excavation scene in a couple of weeks. Students saw passive indications from Woody and look forward to seeing them in their element.

🔦FORENSIC FUN FACT FRIDAY #10🕶️ Ultraviolet, Infrared, X-Rays and the visible range: all of these electromagnetic waves (including some peculiar ones used for Raman) can be used in Forensics for the detection of body fluids, drugs and trace evidence.
