@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 We tried spending something stupid on Paqueta last year if you remember. The guy wasn't getting in this team, or else he was going to be a winger which he is better in the 10. And Duran and Diaby's money on the 3 loanees from last year only for them to leave 😅
English

@UpTheVilla04 @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 That's fair but it's also part of the problem.
Cunha wouldn't join us, because Torres/Konsa/Lindelof are ahead in the pecking order. Jesus wouldn't join because we have Watkins/Abraham.
Ideally, we'd sign someone like Jesus as an understudy to Ollie but would he want to join us?
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 Yeah but that's my point that we've been so panicky in windows making sure we have this player in now, and not waste time that we haven't planned or looked properly. This has been evident for a year now, just look at who we bought and how much we paid
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 It depends who you're combining though because would you rather Hudson Odoi and Bakwa/Hutchinson over Buendia and Sancho? I would
English

@UpTheVilla04 @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 Forgot about Jesus, he'd probably start over Ollie for most of the season.
Jair Cunha doesn't start over Pau or Konsa, definitely not.
If we play our best XI with Onana-Kamara in the pivot and SJM/Youri/Rogers as the 10s, Hutchinson or Bakwa don't start. Currently, they would.
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 If you want to go down argument route you can include McGinn, Cash, Konsa, and maybe Watkins for how long they've been at the club and are no longer developable but again we wouldn't sell them, maybe 1 or 2
English

@UpTheVilla04 @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 Who in our squad do you consider deadwood?
Mings and Bailey for sure, probably Digne and maybe Barkley.
3 of them most likely won't be here next season, neither will our 3 loanees.
I think we have already moved most of our deadwood🤷♂️
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 Buendia, Barkley, Digne, Bailey, Mings, and you can argue some others but so far that's deadwood for you
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 So what you're saying is Jesus isn't good enough for Villa? Jair Cunha isn't good enough for Villa? Or Bakwa or Hutchinson despite how you think of them, they currently get into our attack because we have to play Buendia and Sancho there along with Bailey 😂
English

@UpTheVilla04 @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 I don't think they're recruitment is better than ours. None of their summer signings make our XI.
They're wage bill is probably lower than ours so they can spend more than we do, but if they want to keep MGW, Murillo and others, they'll have to improve their salaries as well.
English

@The_Ennead @Durnetra1 @b_z_p1 If they beat us they will win Europa and get champions league where their revenue will hit sky high and you watch them recruit better than we do. I don't think we'll hear a single rule complaint if they do. When it's us we're afraid to spend and sell
English

@Durnetra1 @UpTheVilla04 @b_z_p1 I completely agree with you. I just don't think we can compete with Bournemouth because when a young player joins us, they'd be 2nd choice until they're better than what we have.
We'd never replace Rogers like they replaced Semenyo. Not getting Europe because of it would be huge
English

@Durnetra1 @The_Ennead @b_z_p1 I agree. Our manager wouldn't do that and I get it but these players are fresh and ready, our players are at their peak
English

@The_Ennead @UpTheVilla04 @b_z_p1 You're talking like Bournemouth are a championship club. They are giving young players the opportunity to play in the exact same league we are in. They are 6 points behind us. You think Bournemouth have nothing to lose ? They get that wrong they probably go down.

He was on Forest Focus the other week saying you can’t tell the difference between Dyche & Vitor #NFFC
Matt Forde@mattforde
There’s only one logical conclusion to draw. Vitor Pereira is a genius.
English

@J_Tanswell @TheAthleticFC He just finished a full season. He should not be anywhere near training or anything intense until the summer

Aston Villa winger Alysson sustained an adductor injury in a recent training session. Sources close to the 19-year-old hope he will feature and return to fitness before the end of the season. Story @TheAthleticFC #AVFC

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 Yeah although the point still stands for Spurs (if they are interested) based in London and can offer stupid money (aka Gallagher) that we can not afford
English

We were absolute trash yesterday. Legit one of the worst performances in years across the board.
But fuck West Ham. We are going for our own final on Thursday so are within our rights to rotate.

'Absolutely STINKS': Angry fans claim Unai Emery's second-string line-up against Spurs 'needs investigating' for 'integrity' issues - as relegation rivals West Ham and Nottingham Forest pay the price for hosts' 'abysmal' display trib.al/EAyZFHs
English

@Matt_James37 @sturae229 He won't be wanted by Liverpool this time because he's been quiet of recently but someone I'd definitely go for with UCL money and some outgoings
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 Yeah I meant the DM as well (although googling 20m fofana brought up articles for Liverpool wanting him in 2024) Spurs are supposed to be after him for 20m (according to a 3 day old article)
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 Fofana wanted by Liverpool and Spurs who can offer a high wage so would need to be one of our higher earners to beat them to him.
150k a week = 7.5m a season
4 year deal on £20m? = 5m a season
agents fees? = probably a couple million with all the negotiations. So £12-15m a year
English

@Matt_James37 @sturae229 Fofana for 20m is a no brainer, a new right who will actually get gametime, Garcia is a waste of space, a new left back to replace Digne, a striker, and some pacey width. Sounds a lot but we don't need a billion to buy these just some sensible decisions have to be made
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 If we can get a back up who can cover some of what Kamara and Onana offer. Swap out the stuttering attack and give them a year to get used to each other with Defensive familiarity then work on Defence in 2027 imo. (unless a good offer comes in)
English

@Matt_James37 @sturae229 We don't need elite level players though mate and we left this too late
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 Easier said than done. Someone like Cash, Mings or Digne are likely minimal cost on the books, under UEFAs sanctions we need to break even on transfers so we would struggle to get players better for whatever we get for them imo.
English

@Matt_James37 @sturae229 Basically selling anyone but the 4 I listed above. Digne can leave too, even Cash, Konsa. If we can get 30% of Gerrard and Dean's players out it would be great plus the failure signings
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 Malen > Roma, Guessand > Palace, Buendia/Bailey to anyone that will take them, Watkins can leave if we get an offer we would break even on him, Sancho/Elliott can do one. Rogers if a good offer comes as well. Rebuild the entire attack, keep the defensive core
English

@Matt_James37 @sturae229 I think because of how bad we were then it might've affected some of them which I get but we kept too much faith in them with a hand on their shoulder and it didn't work. Tried them for conference league - failed, tried them again - failed in FA Cup etc..
English

@UpTheVilla04 @sturae229 The core is still the Dean Smith squad. There was talk back then of us being mentally weak, 1 loss becomes several etc.
Unai made a 0 excuse culture and took any blame himself and fixed it, I do feel the excuses have been coming back since last Summer with the weaker mindset
