"Don't Dream It's Over" was written by Neil Finn in just one day, sitting at his brother Tim Finn's piano. He was in a bad mood and feeling antisocial because drummer Paul Hester had filled the guest house, he wanted to be alone and ended up isolating himself on the piano.
