Whoever receives the piece of cake with the charm in it, becomes king or queen for the day and they wear a special crown. Our cake was wooden - not quite as tasty but the pupils still enjoyed it!

This week, Lower School and 4th form pupils have been learning about La Fête des Rois in their French lessons - a lovely French tradition which celebrates Epiphany on January 6th. Bakers sell the traditional 'Galette des Rois which contains a figurine.

Today, A level French students took part in an excellent interactive webinar about their set film La Haine. This is a follow up from their study day in London last November - happy memories! Thank you @BFI for the excellent resources which will help us prepare for essay writing.

The girls in the Constables team are enjoying the trophy they won in the inter-house competition run by #UppinghamLanguages for the @GCHQ #NLC2025 (National Language Competition.) Bravo! 👏

We are delighted to announce that the winning team of the @GCHQ #NLC2025 is Constables with 6305 points! #UppinghamLanguages They were presented with a trophy by the headmaster in chapel. 👏#UppinghamLanguages

The competition is fierce in the #NLC2025 inter-house competition. Will Brooklands regain the trophy from 2 years ago? School House were the champions last year but last night Constables was top of the leader board! @GCHQ

#Uppingham4thForm linguists will soon be putting their language skills to the test by taking part in @GCHQ National Language Competition 2025 as an inter-house challenge. The team leaders met Señora D this morning.

The girls from MELH are on their way from Paris via @Eurostar Everyone is looking forward to welcoming them to Uppingham. 🇫🇷🛤️🇬🇧

On Saturday 20 pupils from Les Maisons de l’Education de la Légion d’Honneur (MELH) will be travelling from Paris to Uppingham. We have a long-standing relationship with MELH. A level French and DELF students are very much looking forward to meeting their pen-friends.

It was great to see one of our former A level students on his way to begin studying French and Italian at University. Bonne chance!

Toda is European Day of Languages, always a highlight in the Modern Languages Faculty where we celebrate linguistic diversity and the benefits of being able to speak other languages 🌐 Look out for some special items in the Buttery from @Aramark

Many thanks to Miss F-H putting in so much work to organise this. An English teacher at the Collège came to Uppingham as part of the exchange with the Maison d'éducation de la Légion d'honneur, our partner school in Paris.

This week, Uppingham L5 and U5 French pupils are preparing for their new exchange with the Collège Charles De Foucauld in Neuilly sur Seine. They will exchange video clips with the French pupils to introduce themselves and our school.

We are delighted to welcome pupils from @ColegioStaHilda to #UppinghamLanguages with their teacher who is an #OldUppinghamian (2004 C.) They will spend some time with our L5 pupils to experience life at Uppingham. Bienvenidos!
