Here is my pitch for an Indian remake of The Devil Wears Prada. Shaitan Pehne Sabyasachi. Shobha De is the editor of Glitz, the definitive fashion blog that defines fashion. Every Gen Z girl dreams of interning with her in exchange for Satya Paul merch. Shobha's trusted aide is Salil Tripathi. Kind, gentle, unobtrusive but perfectionist. Enter Suhana Khan and Janhavi Kapoor. She calls both of them "Shilpa." All interns are Shilpa to her. Janhavi of course cares about real journalism. She adores Shobha who mistreats and mocks her. But she is a real journalist inspired by the trailblazing journalism of Barkha. Meanwhile Suhana is scheming to upstage Shobha De. She does a secret deal with her dad SRK to buy out Glitz and oust Shobha from the post. Janhavi gets to know this and tells Shobha. They make many calls. Climax. Goa Fashion Week. Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and Satya Paul are there. Suhana is quietly gloating. SRK will soon announce his acquisition. But suddenly, there is a clap of thunder and bolt of lightning. Which is strange because it is an indoor event. A huge plume of smoke appears on the stage. From it emerges a simple elderly lady in a cotton saree. She is flanked by Janhavi Kapoor and Shobha De. The simple elderly lady in a cotton saree has outbid SRK and bought out Glitz, keeping Shobha De in charge. Suhana starts crying. She will now go work in her mother's interior decorator business. She is no visionary. A mere vendor.
