This "stability" is in fact organised oppression. It is the moral-social chaos that all upright people should seek to change, with consideration of capacity and consequence. But that's very different to simply legitimising it and giving it an indefinite mandate to continue. /8

Second, the other pillars of the imaginary "resistance" who always supported & propped up Assad stand for what he stood for. You can't support or turn a blind eye to gross injustice and horrific inhumanity and then claim to be against it. Sorry, doesn't work that way. /6

The horrors of the Sednaya concentration camp are now before the world. Some ground realities it indicates are worth noting. 🧵

Third, with regards to the position of many sincere scholars: Sednaya represents the "stability" you legitimise and/or support. When you contrast the "stability" of a country under a regime like Assad's with the "chaos" of revolution, this is what you’re talking about. /7

The horrors of the Sednaya concentration camp represent what Assad stood for and what the Axis of “Resistance” propped up…but also, despite the rhetoric otherwise, what the US and Europe turned a blind eye too and even supported and utilised (“rendition”) when expedient.

Without hell, there will be no justice for people like Bashar al-Assad. And without heaven there will be no release for those who suffered under him and did not live to see this day.

The scenes coming from #Sednaya are haunting — this wasn’t just a prison & torture center, it was a concentration camp. A true horror. Mountains of bodies. Rooms full of disposed clothes & shoes. Skeletons. Bodies partially destroyed by acid.

I don’t know how many videos I watched showing prisoners from Sednaya in this state. They are in half vegetation state. Imagine the severity of the torture that would stop your brain

Five years ago, a conversation transformed my understanding of Syria's prison sector—and the Syrian regime itself. As Syrians excavate survivors from Sednaya, I’m sharing an edited transcript of that discussion. The speaker is an Arab researcher who spent decades in Damascus 🧵

Israeli incursions into and US attacks on Syria show that the rebels are a US/Israeli project!! Because of course, it’s all good when your real enemy has access to significant infrastructure and weapons. But when your agents come to power, you can’t allow them that. Duh!

Tinfoil “anti-imperialists” on 5 DECADES of the Assads doing jack all for the Golan Heights: silence and obfuscation. Same ppl on Jolani 1 DAY after he comes to power: OMG, why hasn’t he said/done anything about Israeli incursions!? Is it ignorance or ideological bigotry?

"How's that revolution looking for you, huh?" - Quietist rhetorical question asked with a snigger, 2015. "It's going great, fam. Almost done cleaning out Damascus." - Activist reply with a smile, 2024. If you know, you know. :)

@truthamplifier1 Err, Assad has been a designated dictator and member of the “axis of evil” since forever. You think the US cares about these politicised designations, which it makes and changes itself as per its own interests? No, sir.

The CNN interviewing Jolani is apparently proof that he’s a US agent…according to the tinfoil variety of “anti-imperialists”. News flash, fam: Assad has been interviewed by the CNN, ABC, NBC multiple times in the last 20 years. Please stop embarrassing yourselves. Thanks.
