Born in Yunnan, the brand is paying deep homage to its roots. Many Chagee stores also incorporate Dunhuang motifs and Silk Road elements. Both Dior and Chagee use classic blue-and-white color schemes, yet one is rooted in France’s Toile de Jouy cultural heritage, while the other springs from China’s traditional blue printed cloth—an intangible cultural heritage. This blue-and-white aesthetic has deep admirers in both East and West. What should be a beautiful example of cultures appreciating each other’s beauty has instead been twisted by ignorance and narrow-mindedness. That’s truly a shame.
